On June 13, 2026, the AUSA Allegheny-Blue Ridge Chapter held its annual General Membership Meeting and U.S. Army Birthday and Flag Day Celebration at the Roanoke Hotel & Conference Center. The event featured performanced by the 29th Infantry Division Band, the Susie B. Gibson Science and Technology Center JROTC Color Guard, and keynote speaker Command Sergeant Major (Ret.) Todd Sims. The celebration included the traditional Army birthday cake-cutting ceremony and an enlistment ceremony welcoming five new recruits into the United States Army. During the event, the chapter also recognized three Community Partners for their outstanding support of the chapter’s mission. Rubicon Planning, LLC received a Certificate of Appreciation for sponsoring Bingo Socials at the Davis & McDaniel Veteran Care Center and the Salem VA Medical Center, Anderson, Desimone, Greene & Owens, P.C. was honored for 20 years of dedicated support to the chapter, and the chapter presented a contribution to the National D-Day Memorial. Additionally, residents of the Davis & McDaniel Veterans Care Center—including three Vietnam veterans and one Korean War veteran—were recognized with challenge coins in appreciation of their service and sacrifice to the nation. On 20 February 2026, and on behalf of the Allegheny-Blue Ridge Chapter, Chapter President Scott Dooley and Chapter Treasurer John Page presented a donation of $500 to James Pharis, Information Receptionist, Salem VA Health Care System. The money will be used to purchase comfort items, including 200+ sleep mask and ear plug kits for the patients receiving inpatient care at the medical center. The Salem VA Medical Center provides outstanding health care, trains America’s future health care providers, and conducts important medical research. The facility boasts a 242-bed teaching hospital that provides health care services to more than 78,000 eligible Veterans in an area that covers 26 counties, 13 independent cities, and 8,800 square miles in Southwest Virginia.
