A curious gathering has taken place at the gallery!
Tiny tails, funny little wings, and a few curious backsides.
These clay creatures are feeling a bit shy, so you will have to come and meet them in person to see their faces. Who do you think is hiding on the other side?
This month’s theme at the Ridgefield Art Gallery is Mythos. It’s all about magic, and fairies, pixie dust and folklore. And if you know, Kaylin Wood, our featured artist, you would agree that she is just as magical and beautiful, as her artwork! You will not want to miss this incredible experience. Kaylin has some magic in store for you.✨🦋✨

Opening reception this Saturday June 6th, 5-7 PM

So much inspiration and positivity in one room tonight. We are so grateful to be a part of such a creative community!
Tonight we celebrated the exciting news that our member Stephen Hayes has officially become a published author! He shared the story behind publishing his very first book, The Return of the Mary Celeste, and gave us a great look into his journey as a writer.
We were also honored to present a grant to Abby Braithwaite at Plas Newydd Farms in support of the amazing arts initiative she works so hard to make possible for our community.
We also heard from Ridgefield police officer Kaylin Debiak about the “Rocks with Cops“ event coming back to Ridgefield.
And last but not least, welcoming two Ridgefield School District teachers to our meeting and presenting honorary Ridgefield Art Association memberships to all district art teachers! We are excited to continue building stronger partnerships and finding more ways to bring the arts to our students and schools.

This is “A bunch of bull“
Acrylic, plywood, and Texas Longhorns.
This is a piece that our member James Misner has created, and it comes with a pretty incredible story.
Several years ago he was a featured artist at a gallery in Longview Washington. He thinks because he was a local politician at the time, the daily newspaper wrote a story about it. That was then picked up by the Associated Press and printed around the United States. A woman in Texas called him and told him how much she loved his work and wanted to send him some Texas Longhorns. She said she didn’t care what he did with them as long as he “made something cool!“
The horns did arrive and then sadly set untouched for a decade and a half, and then last week he decided it was time!
James said this work features some application challenges that were a lot of fun, from cutting and sanding the horns to lay flush on the plywood, to attaching them with Bondo, and creating hair texture with caulk. Each step was an adventure back to his days as a home painter in his 20s. He really enjoyed painting this and looks forward to hanging it in his own personal Airbnb… Unless someone buys it. This masterpiece is for sale for $3,400. If you are interested, please message him through his Instagram page, Congratulations! This is truly an incredible work of art.
