We love working with community partners and this year, we are excited for a collaboration with Merrilee Asla Lee. Merrilee reached out to us with a vision for sharing her Basque culture and creating an art experience specifically to coincide with the Multicultural Festival.

On Sept 5, at the Ridgefield Art Gallery, 104 N Main Ave, Suite 110, she will have a table out front with Basque sheep making kits for children, and information about Basque culture. Merrilee’s brother, Terryl Mitchell Asla, co-author of their children’s book Zaldi Danced: Zaldik Dantzatu Zuen will be doing readings from the book from 10:30 am and 1 pm. In the evening from 5-7 pm, don’t miss Merrilee’s featured artist reception at the gallery for her show entitled, Heritage & Passions.

Today’s city sponsored “Meet me on Wednesday’s” walk had a creative twist! Ridgefield Art Association member Melody Kranz led the group on a walking tour all about the art in our community.
There is so much art woven into the streets of Ridgefield, from colorful murals and mosaics in the sidewalks, to sculptures, artistic bike racks, and the art showcase wall in the library!
The final stop on today’s tour was the new Ridgefield Art Gallery, where this group was able to see more of the incredible talent right here in our community. They were able to mingle and visit and learn more about the local artists.
It was a fun and inspiring look at how Art has become such an important part of the character and charm of downtown Ridgefield.

Please join us on September 11, at the Ridgefield Community Library from 1-3:30 PM. This color mixing demo will be presented by this very accomplished local artist. Christopher Mooney is a pacific Northwest based artist who transforms heavy urban infrastructure and industrial landmarks into monumental oil paintings. Inspired by his roots, growing up in an artistic Long Island family, and his training at the Parsons School of Design, Mooney scopes out unique vantage points by hiking around city bridges with his camera.
He is a member of the Oregon Society of Artists, Oil Painters of America, and the International Guild of Realism. Christopher actively creates detailed urban landscape paintings, and private portrait commissions. We are very excited to showcase the work of this talented artist at our upcoming art show, Big Art Ridgefield, inside the Greeley Building on September 19 and 20th.

Yesterday, we checked in with one of our very talented members, Morgan Rumble, and wanted to give an update on the wonderful work she has been doing in our community.
For almost 2 years now, Morgan has been the facilitator for Teen Art Chat at the Ridgefield Community Library.
Teen Art Chat is FREE and open to anyone ages 11 and up. There is no registration and no commitment. It is completely drop in, so you can stay for 15 minutes, or two hours. It is totally up to you.
All art supplies are available to use, or bring your own. There is no set project and no pressure to create a certain way. It is simply a space to come together, make art, share ideas, and enjoy being creative. Some teens even bring their electronic devices and work on digital art.
There is always a library staff member present along with Morgan, making it a welcoming and supportive place for young artists to spend some time. We appreciate that Morgan has dedicated nearly 2 years to create this opportunity for our local teens.
If you know, a young person age 11+ who might enjoy a creative space to hang out and make art, this is for them.
Teen Art Chat happens once a month, on the third Thursday of the month from 4 PM to 6 PM . Thank you so much Morgan, for helping make art a place where everyone feels welcome!

Are YOU ready for Ridgefield’s “Art Weekend?!”
Ridgefield is about to be filled with ART, MUSIC & COMMUNITY!
We do not want you to miss any of it.
Come and see the Ridgefield Art Association’s newest exhibit at the library and discover the incredible work of local artists from 3:30 to 5:30.
Our current exhibit at the Ridgefield Art Gallery is coming to an end, so this is your chance to stop and see the artwork, and support the artists before the show changes, from 11:00am-6pm!
While you are out enjoying the art, Ridgefield will also be alive with music at a big outdoor music festival, which is free and all proceeds are going to go to the School of Rock in Vancouver! The music will be going from 3 PM to 10 PM, in two different locations, the Ridgefield Wine Bar, and Ridgefield Craft Brewing Company. There will also be a vendor market.
Bring your friends. Eat some delicious food. Listen to some music. Meet local artists while enjoying a beverage or two! Please come out and support the people who make our community, creative, colorful, and unique!

Last night, downtown Ridgefield came alive for another wonderful Farm to Table celebration, and the Ridgefield Art Association was so happy to be a part of it again.
For years, the City of Ridgefield has invited our Art association to help serve beer, wine, and nonalcoholic beverages to guests at this special fundraising event. It is a tradition we look forward to, not just because it is so great to see the collaboration of all of these local businesses, but it gives our members another opportunity to volunteer, connect with our community, and support an event that celebrates all the wonderful things that makes Ridgefield special.
A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers who gave their time and energy last night!
We also want to thank all the local wineries, and Ridgefield Craft Brewing Company and Ridgefield Floral for helping to make the night so festive.
A heartfelt thank you to the City of Ridgefield for once again including the Ridgefield Art Association in this incredible night. We always appreciate lending a hand and collaborating with the City of Ridgefield.
