Virginia, you sure know how to celebrate PRIDE!🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈 HSZ&W is honored to have been invited to so many incredible events over the past 6 months. It’s a famous saying for a reason, but time really does fly when you’re having fun. And boy did we have fun this summer. We connected with new families, shared resources with those that needed them, collected “kindness cards” for our youth, gave out hundreds of stickers and buttons, and welcomed more new volunteers than ever before.
From baseball and soccer games to book fairs, weight lifting competitions, and VA Pride itself, our volunteers showed up in truly meaningful ways. They came early and stayed late (even in the pouring rain); they held it down when staff were out of town; they supported family members who came to our booth in tears; and they represented HSZ&W SO well. We know how lucky we are to have such a dedicated team of volunteers, and we can’t WAIT to do this all over again with them next summer!
With our staff expanding to 5 and our volunteer crew continuing to grow, this summer we were able to attend more Pride events than before. Check it out:
