Every first Saturday from 2-7pm, Honey Baked Bee is donating a portion of their proceeds to HSZ&W. We won’t be tabling, but you might run into one of us grabbing our afternoon pick-me-up! Whether you order a pastry, a coffee, or a cake, your purchase will directly benefit HSZ&W. So head on over to Honey Baked Bee at 2824 E Broad St. on Saturday, September 6th from 2-7pm!

Happy Pride Month Part Two aka September! You can find HSZ&W at VA Pride on the 12th, BIPOC Pride in Hampton Roads on the 19th, and at Charlottesville Pride on the 26th. Thank you to each and every person who supported the 2026 Back to School LGBTQ+ Youth Empowerment Event! We got our faces painted, our bangs trimmed, and our bellies filled with BBQ. It was a magical day that would not have been possible without the support from our community. Can you believe that we are just a few short days away from the Back to School LGBTQ+ Youth Empowerment Event?! We have so many exciting elements in store for you all and we thought we’d share a sneak peek of what to expect. We’re talking gender affirming haircuts, school supplies, a clothing swap, face painting, self defense, improv, a food truck, drag performances, and MORE! Phew, what a day this is going to be! Can’t wait to see you all there!

Tune in this Wednesday for an extra special Guest Speaker Panel! HSZ&W staff will be interviewing two trans athletes, Eliza and Jude, about their experiences in sports. We'll hear first-hand how athletics have positively impacted their physical and mental health, the highs and lows of playing sports as a trans athlete, and how to continue supporting trans athletes just like them.

It takes a lot of courage to speak publicly about these topics, and we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to both Eliza and Jude for sharing their stories with us 🩷
