Computer science education has never been more important — and it often gets misconstrued.

This piece gets at something we hear about everyday from educators: AI may change how students write code, but it doesn’t replace the foundational skills underneath it.

Problem solving. Decomposition. Systems thinking. Persistence. Learning how to break complex challenges into manageable parts.

Those are the skills that help students become builders of technology, not just consumers of it.

At CodeVA, that’s why our work has always focused on making foundational CS skills accessible to every educator and every student. Because understanding how to think computationally will matter in every field students enter next.

The tools will keep changing. The thinking skills won’t.
