Climate Changemakers RVA, , and Strong Towns RVA are partnering to host an an Hour of Action on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 from 7pm to 8pm at Vasen Brewing Scott's Addition, 3331 W Moore Street. Sign up on Luma - the QR code can be scanned to arrive at the site.

We will be writing to CVTA members to advocate increased funding for bicycle/pedestrian/transit and for that funding to occur in a more financially sustainable way.

What’s next for the Lakeside Corridor?

Henrico County recently removed the "Garden District" proposal from its 20-year plan.

While fear of over-development is understandable, scrapping street safety improvements leaves Lakeside with a 4-lane stroad dividing a thriving commercial corridor.

We believe Lakeside deserves safe street crossings, thriving local shops and human-scale design.

The City of Richmond's Department of Transportation is hosting historian and UVA professor Peter Norton, author of Fighting Traffic: The Dawn of the Motor Age in the American City and Autonorama, who has been sharing powerful visual history lessons on how streetcars once served as efficient extensions of walking and connecting neighborhoods while keeping streets human-scaled.
In his July 9 lecture, Norton will explore this rich legacy and its direct relevance to Richmond’s upcoming Pedestrian Safety Master Plan. He’ll examine the political shift toward car dominance and the lessons for reclaiming safer, more equitable streets today. A lively Q&A will follow, offering a chance to discuss how Richmond can draw on this history to advance Vision Zero, protect vulnerable road users, and design streets for everyone.
This event will take place July 9, 2026, at VCU's Cabell Library, 901 Park Avenue, Richmond, Virginia 23284. The event starts at 7:00 PM and doors open at 6:30 PM.
