Health officials have identified potential measles exposures in Richmond and Olive Hill, Kentucky. An unvaccinated, out-of-state traveler visited several establishments in these communities on August 24, August 27, and August 28, 2026.
Measles is a highly contagious respiratory virus that can cause serious health complications, especially in young children. Vaccination is the best protection against measles. Immunization against measles comes through the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine.

If you believe you may have been exposed to measles:
-Check your immunity: Verify if you have received the MMR vaccine or have medical proof of immunity.

-Monitor yourself for symptoms: watch for high fever, cough, runny nose, red, watery eyes, and a rash for 21 days following the exposure.

-Contact your health care provider: Call your doctor or the local health department immediately if you develop symptoms or have questions.

Our hearts are heavy following the tragic shooting at Charles Young Park in Lexington that claimed one life and left four others injured.

What should have been a day of community, fellowship, and celebration ended in heartbreaking violence. We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the individual who lost their life, and we pray for the recovery of those who were injured and for everyone who witnessed or was affected by this tragedy.

Gun violence continues to cause tremendous pain in our communities. We cannot become numb to it, and we cannot accept it as normal. Every person deserves to feel safe gathering with family, attending community events, and simply enjoying their neighborhood.

As more information becomes available, we encourage everyone to support those impacted, cooperate with law enforcement, and resist speculation or misinformation.

Our thoughts remain with the victims, their families, the East End community, and the entire Lexington community during this difficult time.

Something Worth Discussing: AIPAC Money & Political Influence

When evaluating candidates, should it matter whether they accept campaign support connected to AIPAC?

Some voters argue that accepting AIPAC-backed support raises concerns about the influence of major political spending on U.S. policy toward Israel and the Middle East. They believe elected officials should be accountable primarily to their constituents and question whether large outside spending can influence policy decisions.

Others argue that AIPAC participation is simply one part of the American political process. Many organizations representing different industries, causes, and communities spend money supporting candidates whose positions align with their priorities. From that perspective, receiving AIPAC-backed support does not automatically mean a politician is controlled by the organization.

For me, the bigger question is one we should ask about ALL major political money:

🔹 Who is financially supporting our candidates?
🔹 How much influence does that support provide?
🔹 Do their votes consistently reflect their constituents—or their biggest political supporters?
🔹 Are they willing to disagree with organizations that helped support their campaigns?

Regardless of where you stand on Israel, Palestine, or AIPAC, voters should know who is helping finance political campaigns and what those organizations expect in return.

Don’t just look at the letter beside a candidate’s name. Follow the money. Study the voting record. Ask questions. Then make your own informed decision.

What do you think: Should accepting significant support from AIPAC—or any major political interest group—affect whether you support a candidate?

Keep the conversation respectful. 👇🏾

A time was definitely had today!

We had the incredible opportunity to experience the Chautauqua performance featuring William Wells Brown, powerfully portrayed by Virgil Covington, Jr.

The performance brought history to life in a way that was both educational and inspiring. So much knowledge and history were shared, followed by a powerful and thought-provoking conversation that made the experience even more meaningful.
