We were so stoked to see Red Button Club member Anthony Mijares in the Washington Post this week!

RBC is full of individuals passionate not just about their work, but about the health of our community too. Mijares has been a champion of small businesses, as a serial entrepreneur of several companies himself over the years, as well as of medicinal and recreational ma*****na legalization. He was featured in the Post for his advocacy for fair competition between small ma*****na and h**p growers with bigger dispensaries during this year’s General Assembly session. Grower reflects on state of ma*****na and h**p in Virginia

We had a beautiful time attending Goochland Education Foundation’s annual gala at Dover Hall Estate, one of Richmond’s best known and most bewitching venues, as a diamond-level sponsor and silent auction contributor.

Kids are the future, which is why Red Button Club supports the Goochland Education Foundation (GEF) in making the schools in our communities as strong as they can be. Even throughout a global pandemic. Even despite virtual learning.

We look forward to continuing our support for GEF—and to the next gala, of course!

The 707 team had the honor to celebrate the at its annual gala last Saturday and to donate a custom suit experience to its auction. Special shout-out to for building up excitement during the auction with his own beautiful custom 707 suit!

Several of our favorite clients are on the board of this amazing organization and the Red Button Club is always happy to champion the causes our members are passionate about! 

The Forward Foundation provides childcare, support, and resources to single parents and empowers them to conquer the hardships—emotional and financial—they face.

We are wishing our friend and RBC member Ryan, , a huge congratulations and the best of luck with his new, second location of Ironclad Coffee. Ironclad Coffee Shockoe Bottom is already considered a coffee destination by local aficionados (their blends are also certified by the Specialty Coffee Association!) and we can’t wait to see the success Ryan will see in the West End!

We love serendipity: two of our Red Button Club members, Lory Markham and Walter Parks, collaborated to renovate a century-old, Art Deco building listed on the National Register of Historic Places into apartments and two storefronts, one of which Lory’s business occupies. The building also happens to be on Grace Street–just a few blocks away from 707!

Lory, a realtor, first showed the building to a client a couple years ago, but she knew she wanted it for her own company, Markham Planning. Markham enlisted Walter Parks Architects to design the rehab, which uncovered and restored unique features like glass etchings and even an octagonal skylight from the 30’s. It also raised the building’s value from about $550,000 to almost $2 million.

The Art Deco-style structure now houses 10 apartments and storefront offices for Markham Planning and Sadler & Whitehead, the latter of which has changed ownership.

Red Button Club member and outstanding lawyer Brendan O’Toole won the first Conditional Pardon for the Virginia Redemption Project for Sincere Allah, a man who was cornered into pleading guilty under threat of facing the death sentence at the age of 18.

O’Toole took on Allah’s case pro bono outside of his work at Williams Mullen. Mr. Allah had served 23 years of a 45-year prison sentence—more time than he has spent as a free man—despite serious questions concerning his guilt at his initial trial.

“This was one of the most fulfilling days of my life,” O’Toole said, regarding the day Ralph Northam granted the pardon and Mr. Allah was freed. We are so honored to have O’Toole as part of our community and celebrate his huge achievement in obtaining such a rare pardon.

Dr. Neil Agnihotri, one of the area’s top cosmetic surgeons and new Red Button Club member, designed a custom checked summer suit with us for a family function this July. We can’t get enough of the fabric, or the impeccable fit!

Have you watched Dopesick yet? Did you see anything familiar?

The Hulu hit series was mostly filmed in Richmond and featured local landmarks like the , but it also highlighted local businesses. Several of the costumes for the series came from 707, and some of the scenes were filmed in Red Button Club member ’s law offices. 

We’re honored to have played a small role in such a successful and eye-opening series.
