Members of the Saratoga Chapter were honored to be part of repatriation of Second Lieutenant Joseph LeRoy “Roy” Burke at the Gerald B Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery with the casket delivered by a horse drawn carriage,full military honors and a fly over. The Troy airman and WW II prisoner of war was finally returned home after 80 years. He was captured by the Japanese in May 1942 in the Philippines and held prisoner for over two years. In January 1945, he was killed inadvertently by US forces as he was being transported to Japan on an unmarked prison ship. Using DNA, they were able to identify his remains which had been interred with 431 other unknowns at the National Military Cemetery of the Pacific in Hawaii.

On Saturday, May 2, the 5th Annual Turning Point Symposium, featuring Women In War, was held at the Old Saratoga American Legion Post 6 in Schuylerville, sponsored by the Saratoga County 250 Commission, Campaign for Saratoga 250, and presenting sponsor, The Dash Family. Susan Brewer, sponsored by the Saratoga Chapter DAR and Heather and Tim Mabee, presented on her patriot, Jane Campbell, with the topic "Captured by Brant: The Cherry Valley Massacre and the Tribulations of Jane Campbell and Her Family". A DAR information table was also set up by the chapter.

At the Saratoga Chapter April 14th meeting, we celebrated the achievements of the winners of our chapter’s Flag Day Contest, recognizing their hard work and dedication to the subject. The Flag essay winners were First Place Savanah Brockway from Lake Avenue School; Second Place Loreli Snyder from Caroline Street School; and Nayana Shankar from Lake Avenue School. Each winner read their essay, received certificates, cash and an American Flag. Chapter Regent Cindy Hollowood and Flag Co-Chairs Laura Bradigan and Carly Connors presented the awards. Congratulations to all the winners!

Heather Mabee and Nancy Trestick, members of the Saratoga Chapter, were honored to participate in the 100th Anniversary commemoration of Margaret Cochran Corbin at West Point on Tuesday, April 14th. A beautiful ceremony was held in the Cadet Chapel, followed by a Wreath Laying at the Margaret Corbin Memorial and lunch at the Thayer Hotel on a perfect Spring Day.

National Vietnam Veterans Day is observed on March 29. The Saratoga Chapter has been expressing gratitude to Vietnam Veterans for over 10 years by presenting them with certificates of appreciation for their service, as part of an event co-hosted by the Uncle Sam Chapter Association of the US Army and the Friends of the Saratoga Military Museum at the Saratoga Wilton Elks. This year's event held special significance as our chapter member Kathryn Buckley's father was recognized and thanked for his service. Regent Cindy Hollowood, Corinne Scirocco, Traci Jersen, Kathryn Buckley and NY State Custodian Heather Mabee distributed certificates of appreciation and homemade cookies.

The New York State Museum's Huxley Theater was the venue for a joint presentation by the Schuyler Mansion, Johnson Hall, and Fort Ontario Historic Sites on Saturday, March 28, which examined the lives of Revolutionary Women Lady Johnson and Angelica Schuyler. Members of the Saratoga Chapter were in attendance, and the event provided them with a unique perspective on the experiences of women during the revolutionary period.

At the Saratoga Chapter's February meeting, Traci Jersen was inducted as the chapter's 106th member, with Regent Cindy Hollowood and Acting Chaplain Corinne Scirocco presiding over the oath. In observance of American Heart Month, chapter members wore red, underscoring the persistent concern of heart disease as the leading cause of death in the US.
