🌡️☀️ HEAT IS ON THE WAY – TAKE A FEW EXTRA MINUTES TO STAY SAFE! ☀️🌡️

As temperatures climb, so do the risks of heat-related emergencies. A few simple precautions can protect you, your family, and your pets.

🐾 Protect Your Pets

* Never leave pets in a parked vehicle—even with the windows cracked. On a 95° day, the inside of a vehicle can exceed 120° in just 15 minutes and continue climbing.
* Check pavement before walking your dog. If it’s too hot for the back of your hand or your bare feet, it’s too hot for their paws.

🏊 Water Safety

* Bright, high-visibility swimwear can make a huge difference in helping spot someone underwater, especially in lakes where visibility is poor.
* Always supervise children around water and wear life jackets when appropriate.

💧 Beat the Heat

* Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
* Limit strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the afternoon.
* Wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing and seek shade whenever possible.
* Check on elderly neighbors, young children, and anyone without air conditioning.

🚒 Heat emergencies can happen quickly. Taking a few simple precautions today can prevent a tragedy tomorrow.

Stay safe. Stay hydrated. Stay cool.

Today, the members of the Clinton Heights Fire Department pause to honor and remember the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation and our freedoms.
We remember the fallen. We give thanks for their courage, their service, and the liberties we enjoy because of them. Their legacy lives on in every parade, every backyard barbecue, and every quiet moment of peace we are blessed to have in our community.
As firefighters and first responders, we understand the call to serve something greater than ourselves. Many of our own members are veterans or have family who answered that call. Today, we stand in gratitude alongside all who wear the uniform — past and present.
To our veterans, active duty service members, and their families: thank you. We will never forget.
Please stay safe today. Remember to grill responsibly, watch children around water, and have a fire extinguisher ready. If you need us, we’re always here.
