On Thursday, September 18th beginning at midnight the Rensselaer Police Department Communications Center will be closed for much needed upgrades. All emergency and non-emergency calls will be transferred to the East Greenbush Police Department Communications Center. We will have an officer in the Police Station for any assistance needed for walk-in complaints to our lobby. There will be no interruptions in service to the city. We anticipate the upgrades will be completed by 8:00pm.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped make National Night Out 2024 a huge success this year. Our community pulled together and made everything work with a venue change on very short notice. I apologize if I missed anybody. Let me know if I did and I will add them. It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of members of our community. On March 8th 2024 Chief Warrant Officer 2 Casey Frankoski who is the daughter of retired Chief James Frankoski and sister of Detective Jesse Frankoski was involved in a horrific helicopter crash while on a mission near the Texas border which resulted in her death. Most of us knew Casey since she was a child who often visited the police station with her father. Casey was still young, energetic, full of life and loved being a pilot while serving our country. Casey's death has devastated our department as well as the community. Also killed in the crash was Chief Warrant Officer 2 John Grassia of the NYS Police and Christopher Luna of the US Border Patrol. Staff Sgt. Jacob Pratt who is also from the City of Rensselaer was a lone survivor and is still in critical condition fighting for his life. We extend our condolences to the Frankoski, Grassia, and Luna families as well as the NYS Police and US border patrol. We also pray for the Pratt family as they are by Jacob's side hoping for a full recovery.
