The original Rosenfeld’s Bakery inside of Eastern Market in Washington, DC. This picture was taken in late 1937. It was colorized by AI. The bakery was started by my great uncle Julius. The man pictured is my grandfather Sali, who fled N**i Germany in March, 1937, along with my grandmother and my Dad, who was 7 years old at the time. He joined his brother in the business upon arriving in America.

Thank you to the folks at Millville By The Sea who hired me and Rosenfeld’s to cater dinner and to lecture on the Holocaust and my family’s Holocaust journey this evening at their beautiful clubhouse. It was a complete sellout. I thoroughly enjoyed it. If anyone else would like this same program in their development, at their clubhouse or community center, please message me or call Rosenfeld’s. The summer and early fall is a great time for this before my Holocaust education program at the schools gets back up to full speed in October. Thanks again to Janice at Millville for a wonderful evening.

Much thanks to the Schattner Foundation and the Freeman Foundation for their very generous grants for the coming school year to the Rosenfeld’s Holocaust Education Fund. The program will continue in large part because of their generosity. If you are a southern Delaware or Eastern Shore middle or high school, public or private, that would like to supplement its World War Two or Holocaust curriculums with a presentation about my family’s Holocaust journey and a trip to the Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC, with all transportation costs paid for, please reply below. If you are a school already working with Rosenfeld’s in the school year just ended, you are already in our budget for the 2026-27 school year, but you’ll need to coordinate with me your proposed Museum date and my presentation date as soon as you can once the school year begins. Thanks to all, schools and donors alike. We’re making a difference at a time when it is very much needed. I look forward to hearing from you.

I was made aware of this incredible and beautiful poem written by an eighth grade student at Beacon Middle School that The Rosenfeld’s Holocaust Education Fund recently sent to the Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC. It’s definitely worth the read. It honestly reads like a 40 year old wrote it.

Thank you to both Wicomico High School and Parkside High School for hosting me this week for my final two Holocaust education presentations of this school year. Wicomico High School will be taking its trip to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC next Friday, all expenses paid for by The Rosenfeld’s Holocaust Education Fund. Parkside will take its first Museum field trip next school year. With these presentations, the Fund spoke at more than 30 schools and libraries this school year, and directly sent approximately 25 schools to the Holocaust Museum, referring another 15 or so Delaware schools to the Jewish Federation of Delaware, which paid the Museum travel expenses for those schools. The Fund expects to directly send more than 30 schools to the Museum next year, and expects to have more than 40 speaking engagements. If your school, library, church, or synagogue is interested in a presentation, please contact me at [email protected]. Thanks to all who donated to The Fund for the school year just ending. Your help was greatly, greatly appreciated. We have made a real difference in Maryland and Delaware. Shabbat Shalom.

Much thanks to Rehoboth Elementary School, which asked me to speak about the Holocaust with its “gifted & talented” 5th grade class this morning. They had already read some Holocaust literature, and knew quite a bit about it. I spent over an hour with the class. The last 15 minutes consisted of the students asking some of the best questions I’ve been asked about my family and the Holocaust. What a great bunch of kids! It was truly a pleasure to spend the morning with them.

We had a great DINNER & LECTURE event tonight, our 4th straight sellout, at Rosenfeld’s Jewish Deli in Rehoboth Beach. Entitled “The Holocaust and My Family’s Journey Through It: Lessons For Today and Beyond”, the presentation covered concepts of inclusion, Judaism, Hitler’s rise to power, the Holocaust, and the Rosenfeld family’s journey both through it, and also ending in concentration camp deaths for many family members.

All of this, and a filling 3 course meal for all who attended. There was a good question and answer period afterward.

Our next Dinner & Lecture event will be held on Thursday, June 11 at our SOUTH BETHANY deli location, at 34444 Coastal Highway. It will be the same structure and pricing, $40 for the dinner and presentation. Come anytime between 5-6 for dinner, and the presentation will begin at 6:45. Until interest wanes, the subject matter will be the same. Please tell your friends. We hope to see you in SOUTH BETHANY on June 11. Call 302-645-1700 to reserve your seats! Suitable for children ages 13 and older.
