Today 3 of our members completed their 2nd and final day of EVOC training. All 3 members have successfully completed the training. We would like to thank Lower Alsace EMS for hosting the class. Congratulations to everyone in the class for passing the EVOC training.

Today 3 of our personnel started Day 1 of their EVOC class. Tomorrow is Day 2. Good luck to them.

Our trucks at Lower Alsace Ambulance have been washed and fueled. 🧽🪣⛽️They are ready to wheel around with their emergency vehicle friends!

Calling out a specific planned PennDot road project due to the significance of the impacts it will have in the Reading metro area...

PennDot advises that the right lane of 422 EB between Lancaster Ave and I-176 will be closed from 7PM tonight (8/21) through 6 AM next Tuesday (8/25) to permit bridge repairs.

This is going to create lengthy and difficult traffic issues on this roadway, but we all know that it is critical to get this bridge deck worked on. Please plan extra time, find alternative routes, and look up how to zipper merge for everyone’s sanity! It will be bad, but it will be short, so please show some love and understanding for the crews doing the work and your fellow drivers.

On 8-8-26 just before midnight Engine 69-1 was dispatched along with the first alarm assignment. on arrival of Captain 79 he upgraded to his second alarm due to the heavy fire inside and outside the home. Crews assisted with Fire Attack and Overhaul. State Police Fire Marshal is Investigating the Cause.

Robert W. "Bob" Hackman, Sr., 77, of Denver, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Fairmount Homes.

He was born in Brunnerville, son of the late Lester and Helen (Gilbert) Hackman and was the husband of Constance E. (Heck) Hackman, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage.

Bob was an avid Phillies fan. He loved his dog, Benji, and he enjoyed going to the cabin in Sullivan County, and snowmobile riding. He was a fireman with Schoeneck Fire Co. for 45 years; having served as president, chief, and chief engineer.

Bob worked as a truck driver for the Schoeneck Quarry and most recently as a delivery driver for Astro Machine Works.

In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by 4 sons, Robert W. Hackman, Jr., husband of Kelly, Rodney R. Hackman, husband of Tracy, Jeffrey S. Hackman, husband of Wendy, and Timothy L. Hackman; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by brother, Kenneth Hackman, and sister, Shirley Farmer.

A viewing will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 5 to 7 pm at the Mellingers Lutheran Church, 80 Gockley Road, Schoeneck. Funeral services will follow at 7 pm, with Pastor Timothy L. Craven officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
