Berks County Association for Graveyard Preservation This organization has been working to preserve the resting places of our earliest settlers in Berks

Research supports the existence at one point of over 300 historic graveyards in Berks County. Of these approximately 120 remain with some sort of visible surface evidence. The BCAGP is working aggressively to preserve any and all evidence of Berks County's early history and particularly these historic graveyards for future generations. Support from membership, donations, and proceeds from sale of publications help to provide funds for our activities.

🌻🚗 LET’S GO! OLEY TOUR — COME EXPLORE HISTORIC OLEY WITH US! 🚗🌻

Join the Berks County Genealogical Society for a special day exploring the history, heritage, and beautiful countryside of the Oley Valley!

⏰ Meet at 9:30 AM
📍 Weis Markets at King’s Plaza in Oley

Historian Laurel Miller will guide us through the day and share the fascinating stories behind some of Oley’s most historic places.

Our adventure includes the DeTurk House at 9:45 AM, where Count Zinzendorf baptized three Mohican Indians in 1742; a scenic drive past additional historic Oley sites; a tour of Hill Church at 11:15 AM with time to explore its cemetery and very early graves; a drive by Mountain Mary’s House and the remarkable story of Mountain Mary; and, after our picnic lunch, a tour of the historic Keim Homestead near Pikeville at approximately 1:30 PM.

🧺 Bring a picnic lunch, drinks and lawn chairs.
👟 Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

We'll be traveling in our own vehicles, with Laurel providing narration along the way by group phone so you can hear the history as we travel from stop to stop.

💚 There is NO CHARGE to attend, but registration is required.
