Helen Woodward Animal Center is a unique, private non-profit organization in San Diego County that has been committed to the philosophy of people helping animals and animals helping people for over 40 years. Located on 12 acres in Rancho Santa Fe, California, our nationally recognized Center provides a variety of services that benefit the community through educational and therapeutic programs for people, and humane care and adoption for animals. We are a no-kill facility that receives no government funding and relies heavily on tax-deductible contributions from private donors to continue our life-saving mission.

Earlier this week, our Pet Encounter Therapy program visited Ronald McDonald House for an early Halloween! The kids got to have their own personal trick-or-treat event with toys, treats, and therapy pups! 👻🕸️🧡

Meet our Pet of the Week: Linus 🤍

Our four-month old, Catahoula Leopard dog has only love in his heart and is looking for a forever family to share it with!

Linus is fantastic on leash and loves going on walkies with his people. He enjoys playing fetch with tennis balls and squeaky plush toys. But what Linus loves most of all, is cuddling with his humans. This pup is so incredibly affectionate with anyone he meets. If you sit down in his presence, he’s quick to run up to you and try and climb in your lap. He adores pets and snuggles and all the attention he can soak up. 🐶

Meet Maple, aka Maid! She’s 9 months old now and has brought so much joy to her family!

She is just the sweetest girl and so incredibly full of life. She loves playing with both people and other dogs, and she’s a total people person. She can be a little timid when meeting someone new, but once she warms up, all she wants to do is play!

Every morning she greets her mama with a toy in her mouth, completely unable to contain her excitement. She loves her daily evening walks around the neighborhood and trips to the park, and she’ll happily chase the hose down while the yard is being watered. Her little growls make her mama chuckle every time.

It’s been such a journey with her already, and her family loves watching her grow and develop her amazing personality. ♥️
