Concord Fire Protection Week Community Event 10-08-2026

Fire Prevention Week is officially underway!

Yesterday, the Greensboro Fire Department invited NC OSFM to join them at Jones Elementary School as they kicked off Fire Prevention Week with students.

This year’s theme, “Charge into Safety: Lithium-Ion Battery Safety,” focuses on the importance of safely charging and using lithium-ion batteries—and the Greensboro team definitely brought the theme to life!

Greensboro Fire personnel dressed the part and helped make an important fire-safety message fun and engaging for the students, teaching them about the potential dangers of lithium-ion batteries and what they can do to charge safely.

And, of course, who better to help kick off Fire Prevention Week than the one and only Sparky the Fire Dog!

A big THANK YOU to Greensboro Fire Department and Jones Elementary School for inviting NC OSFM to be part of such a great event. Events like this are a great reminder that teaching fire safety to our youngest community members can make a lasting impact.

Stay safe. Charge safe. Be a fire-safety superhero!

DID YOU KNOW? October 7th is National Walk to School Day! 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️ Let's promote healthy habits and safe streets for our children in NC!

Parents and educators, here are three simple tips to teach your children and enhance pedestrian safety:

✔️ Use designated crosswalks: Encourage kids to stick to marked crosswalks for safer navigation through busy streets.

✔️ Look left, right, and left again: Teach children this vital safety rule. Checking for traffic multiple times can help prevent accidents.

✔️ Wear bright or reflective clothing: Visibility is crucial! Bright colors and reflective gear make it easier for drivers to spot pedestrians, especially in low-light conditions.

Together, we can create a safer environment for our young walkers! 🌍 Check out our website in the comments for more information!

✔️ Ensure harness straps are snug and positioned at or below the shoulders
✔️ Never leave your baby unattended in a vehicle
✔️ Place babies on their backs to sleep in a safe environment

Simple actions can prevent serious injuries and save lives every day!
