Duke Energy is asking for rate hike, after pocketing $1Billion in overcharges + netting a $5Billion profit in 2025. Who get's to decide on the rate hike: The Utilities Commission.

The Utilities Commission has seen serious restructuring since 2023 as the majority leader of the NC General Assembly sought to remove power from the governor's office and move appointments to the Majority Leader and State Treasurer.
