Every year our members from across North Carolina go through an endorsement process to collectively decide which representatives on the ballot will be working class champions and this week we were proved right: co-governance works.

All of our endorsed elected officials voted against HB1089 and SB1080 to protect working families from constitutional tax caps that would bankrupt our cities.

We’ll see these amendments on the ballot in November and we’ll be fighting them everyday until then alongside our endorsed representatives.

Senate Bill 1080 has passed both legislative chambers today meaning that come November we have a chance to defeat it at the ballot box. We know that an Income Tax Cap sounds good initially but working families won’t see that relief, wealthy families and corporations will.

The North Carolina House of Representatives has passed HB 1089 (Property Tax Cap), putting this NC Constitutional Amendment on the ballot for North Carolinians in November. We know that this amendment will hurt working families no matter what supporters claim it will do.

Data centers are being proposed all over North Carolina from the mountains to the coast.

These facilities use up a ton of our local water and power, which can end up hiking up utility bills for the rest of us. Plus, they hardly bring any long-term jobs to the area. Instead, we’re left with a constant industrial hum that ruins the peace and quiet of our neighborhoods.

We shouldn't have to deal with higher costs and non-stop noise just to power big tech's servers. Many small towns have already passed moratoriums against them.

North Carolinians have reached their limit with skyrocketing power bills. Duke Energy is now gunning for another 18% rate increase on the heels of a 22% jump since 2020.

The pushback is massive. From Rocky Mount to Lumberton, Raleigh to Charlotte, people are showing up in record numbers at commission hearings to say enough is enough. It’s time to take action and stop the hikes!
