Interested in a future in law? Here’s your chance to get real-world exposure.

Youth ages 14–18 are invited to join a new Exploring Post focused on legal careers. This program offers hands-on experiences and the opportunity to learn directly from professionals in the field.

Participants will hear from:
• District judges
• Paralegals
• Attorneys
• Clerks
• Legal nonprofit and corporate professionals

Meetings will be held at the Campbell Law Building in downtown Raleigh on the third Wednesday of each month from 7:00–8:30 PM.

Program begins April 15.

Annual fee: $62

The Exploring Post at Wake Technical Community College offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in automotive repair and maintenance in a real instructional environment.

Interested? email [email protected] to 🛻RSVP for one of the program spaces remaining prior to the first meeting. This program is open to students in grades 6–12. No prior experience is required, no cost to participants, and space is limited.

The spring 2026 schedule is as follows:

Thursday, Feb 19th 6:00-8:30/9:00- Safety and orientation
Thursday March 5th 6:00-8:30/9:00- Fluids, oil, underhood
Thursday March 19th 6:00-8:30/9:00- Torque, Tires, Jacks and Lifts
Thursday April 16th 6:00-8:30/9:00- Electrical, air bags, starting
Thursday May 7th 5:00-830- Pizza party, Collisions, recap and promotion of the Wake Tech program

All middle school parents must agree to be present for all program events. High school parents are optional
Cap of 12 middle and 12 high schoolers for the cohort

The Fred Smith Company Heavy Equipment Exploring Post offers young adults an opportunity to gain hands-on exposure to the construction industry through real-world experiences and professional mentorship.

Interested? email [email protected] to 🛻RSVP for one of the program spaces remaining prior to the first meeting. This program is open to students in grades 11-12. No prior experience is required, no cost to participants, and space is limited.

Program Overview:
• Meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month from 4:00–5:00 PM
• Program runs March 4 – November 4, 2026
• Located at the Fred Smith Company Chapel Hill Road office
• Open to participants ages 16 and older
• Limited to 12 participants

Participants will explore grading, asphalt, surveying, and heavy equipment through hands-on activities and simulators. There is no cost to participate, and snacks, water, and PPE are provided.

Sign-up night is March 4. Participants are expected to attend regularly and follow safety requirements, including wearing long pants, shirts with sleeves, and composite or steel-toed boots.

On Monday, Jan. 12, 2025, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., teens ages 14–20 and their families are invited to the Tony Rand Student Center Multipurpose Room (2220 Hull Road, Fayetteville) to learn about hands-on Exploring opportunities in careers like culinary arts, IT, fine arts, health sciences, law enforcement, and more. Admission is free, and attendees can meet mentors, ask questions, and find out how to get started in programs that build real-world skills, confidence, and future-ready connections.
