🐠 We’re hiring a Cashier at the NC Aquarium on Roanoke Island!

Help visitors start their aquarium adventure! We’re looking for a team member who provides excellent customer service and enjoys working with the public.

What you’ll do:
• Make and look up reservations, check in visitors, and register guests for fee-based programs using our online reservation system.
• Learn about and sell NC Aquarium Society memberships.
• Share information about the aquarium and local area.
• Assist with additional duties as assigned.

Customer service experience, computer skills, and experience processing cash and credit card payments are preferred. A high school diploma or GED—or an equivalent combination of education and experience—is required.

📅 Weekend and holiday work is required.

Otterly great news for Sea Otter Awareness Week! 🦦

Did you know your license plate can help support the NC Aquariums? $20 from each annual NC Aquariums specialty plate fee benefits the North Carolina Aquarium Society.

Thanks, North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles, for helping us spread the word!

Sea Otter Awareness Week takes place every year during the last full week of September. To celebrate it, consider ordering the NC Aquariums specialty license plate which features a river otter. It costs $30 annually, and $20 goes to the North Carolina Aquarium Society to support our state’s aquariums.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 2026 Suds for Sharks hosted by the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher with all proceeds supporting SAFE: Shark & Ray through the NC Aquarium Society. NC Aquariums division director Hap Fatzinger shared the work the Aquariums take part in to raise awareness and action for sharks. Along with trivia, bingo and fintastic kid’s activities, the afternoon was great fun!

A special shoutout to the generous local donors who provided some exciting silent auction items!

Save the Date for our annual Homeschool Day - Sept. 10!

Our annual Homeschool Day is Thursday, Sept. 10 and registration for special programs opens Sept. 1 ONLINE! www.ncaquariums.com/pks-special-events

Be sure to save the date! During this event, all children in the immediate homeschool family are invited to attend. This includes children who are not school age, and two adults (additional adults will still have to pay general admission). Proof of homeschool status is also required during Homeschool Day.
