What does winning look like?

After participating in this year's Thomas Crowder Memorial Golf Classic, Derek Maul shared a perspective that resonated with us.

Sure, there were scores, prizes, and plenty of great golf. But the real victory was something bigger.

It was a day spent with friends, supporting a cause that matters, and helping create opportunities for young people through Scouting.

Because when more than 200 golfers, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters come together with a shared purpose, everybody wins.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this year's tournament such a success.

Read Derek's reflections on the day:

– North Ridge Golf & Country Club (the oaks course) “Every game is winnable if you change your mind about what the prize should be and your perspective about the players at the table.” Sh…

A new national study found that Eagle Scouts are more likely to report feeling grateful, optimistic, purposeful, and satisfied with their lives than adults who never participated in Scouting.

That's not the result of one big moment. It's the accumulation of hundreds of small ones.

Learning to lead a patrol.
Helping someone who needs it.
Trying something difficult.
Serving the community.
Spending time outdoors.
Working toward a goal.

Year after year, those experiences add up.

The latest research suggests the impact can last well into adulthood.

Walking a Mile in Someone Else’s Hiking Boots 🥾🌈

Every great trail teaches us the same lesson: the view looks different depending on where you’re standing.

Scouting is about more than earning badges. It’s about building the kind of character that can sit around any campfire, share a meal with anyone, and genuinely listen to stories that aren’t your own.

This Pride Month, we celebrate our LGBTQ+ Scouts, families, and leaders and the courage it takes to show up as your full self on any trail. We’re reminded of one of the most powerful skills a Scout can develop: empathy. The ability to imagine someone else’s path, their terrain, their weather is what turns a good Scout into a great human being.

Our trails are for everyone. Our council is for everyone.

Whether your journey has been smooth and well-marked, or full of switchbacks and unexpected obstacles, you belong here under the open sky, with a troop at your side.

To every young person finding their footing this month and every month: keep going. The view ahead is worth it.

What an incredible evening celebrating two people who have dedicated their lives to service, leadership, and strengthening our community.

The 2026 Distinguished Citizens Awards Dinner honored Jim and Sandy Ammons, whose impact on Cumberland County, Scouting, education, and countless local organizations has touched generations. Their commitment to serving others reflects the very values Scouting strives to instill in young people every day.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters and the leadership of Jim and Sandy, this year's event raised a record-breaking $120,000 to help ensure more young people can experience the life-changing benefits of Scouting.

Take a look through our photo album and help us celebrate a truly special evening honoring two remarkable community leaders.

Some people keep score. Some people keep traditions alive.

Cardinal District’s Larry Williams is doing a little bit of both today at the Occoneechee Council Thomas Crowder Memorial Golf Classic ⛳️

From the first tee to the final putt, days like this bring together good friends, great stories, and a shared commitment to making Scouting stronger for the next generation. We’re glad Larry is out on the course with us today.

A beautiful day on the course for the Occoneechee Council Thomas Crowder Memorial Golf Classic ⛳️

Every swing today helps support local Scouting programs and the incredible young people we serve across our communities. Thankful for everyone out here making a difference while enjoying a great day of golf.

Adventure gets bigger at summer camp.

Our Older Youth Program is built for Scouts ages 14 and up who are ready to go beyond the traditional camp experience and take their skills to the next level. This action packed week combines outdoor adventure, leadership, challenge, and unforgettable experiences with fellow older Scouts.

Participants may take part in activities such as:
• SUP
• Mountain biking
• Kayaking on the Cape Fear River
• Natural rock climbing at Rocky Face
• Day hiking in Uwharrie
• Cowboy action shooting

This program is designed for Scouts who are confident, active, and ready to fully participate in exciting day trip adventures throughout the week. Scouts will return to camp with their troop each evening, so there is no overnight camping away from camp.

Participants must be classified swimmers to attend.

If your Scout is ready for a summer camp experience filled with adventure, challenge, and memories they will talk about for years, the Older Youth Program is the place to be.
