Through this pain I found information that every family needs to see. Today I am sharing a news report from Hawaii 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝟮𝟳, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 — 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘄𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻. While we were living the worst tragedy of our lives — one we will carry every single day — this story was breaking thousands of miles away, all the way across the Pacific.

7-OH does not care where you live. It does not care how old you are. 𝗜𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 — 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀.

𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰:

⚠️ 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐈𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦: In Hawaii investigators walked into a convenience store and purchased 7-OH gummies for $24 — no ID, no age check, no questions asked. As of today North Carolina has no final enacted law specifically restricting 7-OH, though I am grateful that legislators are actively working to change that. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲, we have seen in other states that enforcement is the real battle. Carrson was 28 years old. No age limit would have saved him. The only real solution is getting 7-OH completely off the shelves. Not regulated. Not age restricted. 𝐑𝐄𝐌𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐃.

⚠️ 𝐈𝐭 𝐋𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐬 𝐋𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐲 𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐈𝐭 𝐈𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐲: These products come in gummies, drinks, flavored tablets and candy forms — bright packaging, fun flavors, nothing that looks remotely dangerous. They are designed that way on purpose. If you saw them in your child's backpack or bedroom you would not think twice. That is exactly what they are counting on.

⚠️ 𝐀 𝐖𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩: Doctors in Hawaii are now reporting something that should alarm every parent — they are seeing people come through their doors who have never experienced addiction before in their lives. Young people. First responders. Everyday people who believed they were taking something natural and safe. 7-OH is creating brand new addicts out of people who never saw it coming.

⚠️ 𝐈𝐭 𝐈𝐬 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐍𝐨𝐰: Hawaii just reported its first 7-OH death — a young woman found dead in downtown Honolulu. From Hawaii to Georgia to North Carolina this is spreading and it is not slowing down.

I know in my heart that had Carrson never taken that first pill — had that person behind the counter told him the truth instead of marketing these products deceptively — Carrson would be here today.

7-OH began a chain of events that took my son. That is what I know. That is what I will spend the rest of my life making sure people understand.

It breaks down 𝑐𝑙𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑙𝑦 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑝𝑜𝑤𝑒𝑟𝑓𝑢𝑙𝑙𝑦 the REAL difference between kratom and 7-OH. They are 𝐍𝐎𝐓 the same thing‼️‼️‼️ People selling 7-OH are counting on you 𝐍𝐎𝐓 knowing that!

𝐕𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐨 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬:

⚠️ 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠: Natural kratom leaves contain less than 1% of 7-OH in their composition. The synthetic version is manufactured in a lab using chemicals. 𝐈𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐦𝐚𝐧-𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐢𝐝 that the plant itself could NEVER naturally produce. They share a name. That is where the similarity ends.

That is ALL IT TAKES to begin a dependency that doctors are describing (Carrson shared as well) that is harder to detox from than fentanyl.

𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐬. It is 17 to 47 times stronger than morphine. At one booth two female employees were asked if they had ever used the product themselves. 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐝 𝐚𝐛𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐧𝐨𝐭! They know exactly what they are selling. They do it anyway.

⚠️ 𝐀𝐧𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐁𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐝: One woman in this video described taking it just for energy as a mom — one every now and then to get through the day. It destroyed her life. Carrson had four years of sobriety and worked as a professional in the recovery world. He specifically asked if what he was buying was addictive and was told NO. This can happen to anyone you love.

Today, I am sharing a report from WHYY that calls the 7-OH market the "𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐭." Doctors are warning that these products are being sold as "natural," but in reality, they have been manipulated in labs to become dangerous, synthetic drugs that "𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐚𝐛𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐤𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐦 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐟."

𝑯𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒚 𝒅𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒐 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘:

⚠️ 𝐀 𝟏,𝟐𝟎𝟎% 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫: Since companies started concentrating these chemicals, kratom-related poisonings have surged by 1,200%. These aren't accidents; they are the result of high-potency products hitting the shelves with no oversight.

⚠️ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 "𝐄𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝" 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Traditional kratom was once known for having a lower risk profile. But around 2015, vendors got "smarter." They began artificially increasing the amount of 7-OH to create high-toxicity products that no longer have the safety of the original plant.

⚠️ 𝟕-𝐎𝐇 — "𝐊𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐦 𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐢𝐝𝐬": The report warns of even scarier lab-created chemicals like mitragynine pseudoindoxyl, which experts say is "𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗳𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗹." It is sold as "kratom" in kid-friendly forms 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗸𝘀, even though it has nothing to do with the plant.

⚠️ 𝐀 "𝐁𝐮𝐛𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐚" 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: These products are becoming as common as "bubble tea," 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 who have 𝗡𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥 used drugs before. It starts with curiosity or a need for energy at work, but it quickly turns into an "opioid epidemic" where you don't even need a prescription.

⚠️ 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐟: This isn't just a habit; 𝑰𝑻'𝑺 𝑨 𝑻𝑹𝑨𝑷! Doctors are seeing patients whose 7-OH withdrawal is "more distressing" than withdrawing from fentanyl, requiring aggressive medical intervention to survive.

Carrson was a professional who dedicated his life to helping people in recovery, but he was trapped by a market that is intentionally deceptive and hiding in plain sight.

He was around detox and support systems all the time; he knew the stakes and never would have risked everything he built for himself. He simply went into a v**e shop to buy a certain flavor he liked and mentioned he was having some back pain. The person behind the counter suggested these "pills." 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐨𝐥𝐝 "𝐍𝐎." He wasn’t looking for a high—he was a professional in the recovery world who was flat-out lied to.

Thank you my dear friend, Jacques Gilbert, Mayor of Apex, NC, for putting out this video. The grief from losing my baby/our son Carrson is unbearable. Our hearts are completely broken and shattered.💔💔💔

Thank you to everyone from the bottom of our hearts for all of the support you have shown us. Thank you to everyone who came to Carrson's memorial yesterday. It was beautiful. I know many more would've been there had you been able. I know it was recorded and I will send that out as soon as I can. But in the meantime, I wanted to get out Jacques' video to warn other people.

Look in the comments for the screenshot Carrson sent me when I asked him about this "7-OH" that I had never heard of before. Carrson was trying to relieve some pain in his back.  He said, "Mom, I made one mistake. I should've done my own research instead of believing some guy in a v**e shop." Carrson specifically asked if it was addictive and was told no.

7-OH is frequently marketed in v**e shops, smoke shops, and gas stations with attractive packaging. It advertises that it is a legal and safe alternative to prescription opioids and is a natural solution that will help with pain, anxiety, or with withdrawal. It is also marketed as an energy booster, mood enhancer, or relaxation tool. All of this conceals its ability to act on the same brain receptors as dangerous opioids like fentanyl. Because it is sold over-the-counter and available in mainstream, unregulated locations, this suggests that the product is safe and legal. IT IS FAR FROM IT!!!!

I can promise you as I'm working through this unbearable grief, this mama bear will come out fighting. I know many others will stand with me. No other precious lives need to be lost.

We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Carrson, the beloved son of Jimmy and Leah Wright.

Carrson’s life touched and changed the lives of so many. Through his work supporting others, his kindness, and his vibrant personality, he brought light, connection, and encouragement to those around him. His presence made a lasting impact that will not be forgotten.

A service to honor Carrson’s life will be held on Sunday, May 3 at 1:00 PM at
Seven Marks Church, 3500 Spring Forest Road, Raleigh, NC 27616.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Wake Monarch Academy to establish the Carrson Kase Wilson Memorial Scholarship Fund. This fund will offer hope to a teenager in recovery, creating opportunities for young people to continue their education in a safe, recovery-centered environment while building a strong foundation for their future.

Through this scholarship, Carrson’s legacy will live on supporting other young people as they work to rebuild, grow, and move forward with purpose.

The Board of Directors and staff of Wake Monarch Academy extend our deepest condolences to Jimmy, Leah, and their family. We are holding them in our thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.
