Dignity starts with a hot shower.

Every Thursday, the Skoolie Foundation's Hygiene Haven shower trailer rolls up to the Union Gospel Mission in Olympia, 9am–1pm — so neighbors living outside can get clean, warm, and human again.

One shower costs us $25 — and we can't do it without you.

This tent is pitched a hundred feet from a house someone couldn't afford to keep.

In Pierce County, median home prices and rents have more than doubled in ten years — climbing at the exact same rate as homelessness. This isn't about bad choices. It's about math that stopped working for working people.

The Skoolie Foundation meets people on the wrong side of that math and helps them find a way back.

They served. Now they sleep outside.

28 unsheltered veterans were counted in Thurston County alone. The hardest part? Beds set aside for them sit empty — because too many were trained to never ask for help.

The Skoolie Foundation goes to them. Because no one who wore the uniform should have to ask twice.

This is what your kindness looks like on the street at sunrise.

At the Skoolie Foundation, we meet our unhoused neighbors right where they are — with a hot shower, a meal, a blanket, and the dignity of being seen. The man at the end of this video said it better than we ever could: "thank you for being here." That's the whole mission — and we can't do it without people like you. Every gift fuels the next shower, the next meal, the next second chance.

Most people walk past and think "why don't they just get help?" The truth is harder.

Nearly HALF of Washington's homeless neighbors are chronically homeless — living with disability or severe mental illness. It's the highest rate of any state in the country.

You can't fill out a housing application from the bottom of a mental health crisis. So we start with what keeps someone alive and reachable: outreach, supplies, and a steady hand.

You don't have to look to Seattle to find the crisis. It's parked at the edge of our own neighborhoods.

On one January night, nearly 4,000 of our South Sound neighbors had nowhere to call home — 952 in Thurston County, 2,955 in Pierce. Both numbers still climbing.

The Skoolie Foundation exists to turn those numbers back into names — one second chance at a time.
