Thank you, Puyallup Tribe of Indians! Your generosity is helping Puyallup students thrive!

Because of a caring community, the Communities In Schools of Puyallup Resource Hub is helping students overcome barriers to learning every day.

So far this school year, we've filled 107 requests, supporting 1,649 students and providing 9,831 essential resources to help young people succeed.

Today, we want to give special recognition to the Puyallup Tribe of Indians for their extraordinary generosity. Through a grant from the Tribe, we've been able to expand our reach and meet needs that might otherwise go unmet. Their support has helped provide specialized shoes for students in Special Education programs, gym clothes, music supplies, and many other essentials that allow students to fully participate in school and thrive.

The impact of this partnership goes far beyond supplies. It helps students feel included, confident, and ready to learn.

Thank you, Puyallup Tribe of Indians, for investing in the future of our students and helping ensure every young person has the opportunity to succeed. ❤️

We are so grateful to the Puyallup School District for putting this on!

As we recognize Indigenous Peoples' Day, we honor the enduring strength, wisdom, and contributions of Indigenous peoples, including the many Tribal nations who have cared for these lands for generations. We continue to be inspired by their leadership in our community and beyond.

What happens when students, seniors, schools, and community leaders come together? Something pretty special. ❤️

We're excited to launch the Golden Bridges Program in partnership with the City of Puyallup - Government and the Puyallup School District, creating opportunities for students in our elementary schools to build meaningful connections with adults from local retirement communities. We've launched it at Karshner Elementary, and are excited about its potential growth into more Puyallup schools!

Research shows that positive adult relationships can make a lasting difference in a child's life, and Golden Bridges is creating even more of those connections right here in Puyallup.

A huge shoutout to Mayor Ned Witting whose leadership helped make this program possible. Even better? He's not just supporting the effort, he's stepping into our schools and volunteering as a math tutor!

Its time once again for ! This week's Mission Moment comes to us from Sam, Our Site Coordinator at Waller Road Elementary.

"A new kindergarten student at Waller Road was having a hard time with transitions and recess at the beginning of the school year. English is not the student's first language, and recess was especially challenging because communicating with other students was difficult.

As a staff we tried many things, a translating tool, having support from an older student who could speak his language and indoor recess opportunities. We also started doing check-ins with him at different points in the day. Together we were able to find ways to communicate that weren't always verbal, oftentimes it would be a fist bump, him showing us his drawings in the morning, sometimes even teaching us words in his first language.

Now, at the end of the month, he goes out to recess every day and often has a smile on his face. It was powerful to be able see him become happier and more connected in such a short time. This was a great reminder of the sense of belonging that consistent relationships can help create."

Its time for Mission Moment Monday! This week's Mission Moment comes to us from Grace at Sunrise Elementary.

"I got to help a new student make a friend! As school started, I was able to go outside and play with the kids and build relationships. During this time, I would go up to kids sitting alone and chat with them. One 5th grader was sitting alone that I had met earlier in the day. She was able to share with me that she was new and did not know anyone and wasn't sure about making new friends. Her and I got to walk around recess together and we both introduced ourselves to other students. In this process we met another new student! Both of them began to play and chat together, creating a space for them both to make a new friend on the first day at a new school."
