Always Remember, Never Forget!

🇺🇸 NATIONAL KOREAN WAR VETERANS ARMISTICE DAY

Today, we honor the courageous Americans who answered the call to serve during the Korean War and remember the tremendous sacrifices made in defense of freedom.

On July 27, 1953, the Korean Armistice Agreement was signed, bringing an end to more than three years of active combat on the Korean Peninsula.

More than seven decades later, we remain forever grateful to the men and women who served through bitter cold, unforgiving terrain and fierce combat, often far from home and in defense of people they had never met.

For generations, the Korean War was too often called the “Forgotten War.”

But those who served will never be forgotten.

Their courage. Their sacrifice. Their service. Their legacy.

The New York State Department of Veterans' Services proudly honors our Korean War Veterans and All Who Served during this defining chapter in our nation’s history.

Forever grateful. Forever proud. Forever remembered. 🙏🇺🇸

From the first musket shots in 1775 to the high-tech, multi-domain force of today, our Soldiers have always been, and always will be, ready to answer the call.

This Friday, June 12th, marks the 214th anniversary of the establishment of Putnam County!

Building on the excitement of this past weekend’s kick-off America 250 celebration at Putnam County Veterans Memorial Upper Park, join us Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Lower Park for a special preview of the new Veterans Museum space as we recognize Assemblyman Matt Slater for his outstanding contributions to preserving our local history in honor of Putnam County Day.

Take a tour of this exciting new space, learn about plans for future exhibits and collections, and discover how you can help preserve the stories of those who have served—past, present, and future.
We look forward to celebrating Putnam County’s rich history with you!

Light refreshments will be served.
