🎀 Another Successful Support Connection Breast Cancer Walk! 🎀

Today, Local 2956 was proud to once again take part in the Support Connection Breast Cancer Walk, setting up a stand and selling our annual Breast Cancer Awareness shirts, with 100% of the proceeds going back to Support Connection.

Support Connection is a Westchester County-based nonprofit that has been helping people affected by breast and ovarian cancer for more than 30 years. Founded in 1996, their mission is to provide free emotional support, education, and resources to individuals and families navigating a cancer diagnosis.

We had an incredible day and were thrilled with the turnout and the amount of support shown for this important cause. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, purchased a shirt, donated, or simply came out to support the walk! Your continued support means a great deal to our members and to the people and families who benefit from Support Connection.

This past week, members of Lake Mohegan Professional Firefighters Local 2956 traveled to the Westchester County Fire Training Center for a day of hands-on company operations and standpipe training.

Our members utilized the Training Center’s propane building and training tower to conduct realistic fireground evolutions designed to reinforce the skills and coordination needed on the fireground.

🚒 Company Operations
Crews worked together through a variety of company-level evolutions, focusing on engine company coordination, effective communication, and operating as a cohesive unit in a simulated structure fire environment.

💧 Standpipe Operations
Members also conducted standpipe operations from the training tower, practicing the deployment and advancement of hose lines from a standpipe system, connecting to outlets, managing hose placement, and establishing an effective fire attack from an elevated position. These evolutions help familiarize members with the unique challenges associated with standpipe-equipped buildings, where proper coordination and hose management are critical.

🔥 The propane building allowed crews to work in a realistic training environment while reinforcing fire attack, hose line advancement, crew coordination, communication, and decision-making in conditions that replicate the challenges encountered during an actual incident.

Training like this allows our members to continually sharpen their skills, work together as a company, and prepare for the situations they may encounter while protecting the residents and visitors of the Lake Mohegan Fire District.

🚒 THANK YOU, ENBRIDGE! 🚒

The Lake Mohegan Professional Firefighters would like to extend our sincere thanks to Enbridge for their generous grant supporting the purchase of new gas detection equipment for our members.

Through this grant, we were able to purchase 12 Protege CO Monitors and 2 CO₂ Meters, providing our firefighters with additional tools to help identify and monitor potentially hazardous atmospheres while operating on emergency scenes.

Carbon monoxide is a colorless and odorless threat that can be present in homes, businesses, vehicles, and other structures. Having reliable personal CO monitors allows our members to continuously monitor their surroundings while working, helping provide an added layer of safety during emergency operations. The CO₂ meters will also allow us to monitor carbon dioxide levels and identify potentially unsafe atmospheric conditions.

This equipment will be carried and utilized by our members in the field, helping ensure our firefighters have the proper technology to protect themselves while they work to protect the community.

We are incredibly grateful to Enbridge for investing in the safety of our firefighters and the residents we serve. Your support helps us continue to improve our capabilities and return home safely after every call.

25 YEARS LATER. WE REMEMBER. 🇺🇸

Today, and every day, the Lake Mohegan Professional Firefighters honor and remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the countless first responders and others who have since lost their lives to 9/11-related illnesses.

Twenty-five years later, we remember the 343 firefighters, 23 NYPD officers, 37 Port Authority Police officers, and all of the innocent lives lost that day, as well as the many heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the years since as a result of their exposure to the events of September 11th. We remember their courage, their sacrifice, and the families and communities forever changed by that tragic day.

Outside Station 2 in Jefferson Valley, a piece of the World Trade Center stands as a solemn reminder of those lives lost, the heroes made, and the strength and resilience of our nation in the face of tragedy. Twenty-five years later, it remains a powerful reminder that their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Today, members of Local 2956 joined members of Local 2343 and the Peekskill Fire Department for their Run to Remember. Each member of our Local, along with the other participants, ran in memory of an individual firefighter who lost their life on September 11, 2001. For every mile and every step, we carried the name and memory of a fallen hero with us, honoring their service, their sacrifice, and the lives they left behind.

We will never forget their names.
We will never forget their sacrifice.
We will never forget. 🇺🇸

Today, these four firefighters officially began their journey through the Westchester County Career Chiefs Fire Academy, taking the first steps toward becoming career firefighters and serving the residents of our community.

The road ahead will be challenging, demanding, and rewarding. They will learn the skills, discipline, teamwork, and traditions that define the fire service while building the foundation for a long career of service.

From all of us at Local 2956, congratulations and welcome to the family. We’re proud to have you as part of the team and look forward to watching you grow.

Your Lake Mohegan Professional Firefighters have been busy!

Over the past few weeks, our newest academy graduates have been working hard to prepare for the challenges they’ll face on the fireground.

Among their training, our Probationary Firefighters utilized Ladder 10 and Ladder 35 to practice setting up an aerial device to a roof, as well as how to safely short-jack an aerial device in the event of an emergency. They also spent time becoming familiar with our apparatus and equipment, along with practicing ladder climbs.

These may seem like routine tasks, but when our Probies hit the line, they could be called upon to perform them under stressful and challenging conditions. Repetition and hands-on training are critical to building the confidence and skills needed to operate safely and effectively.

We couldn’t be more proud of the work our Probies have put in. All of them have done an outstanding job and continue to excel at everything thrown their way.

Local 2956 is proud to welcome our newest member, FF Ralph Magliulo, to the department!

FF Magliulo joins us with over 15 years of dedicated fire service experience with the Village of Pelham Fire Department, where he served the community with distinction and previously held the position of Union Treasurer. His extensive knowledge, leadership experience, and commitment to the fire service will be a tremendous asset to our department, our members, and the community we proudly serve.

Throughout his career, Ralph has demonstrated the dedication, professionalism, and brotherhood that define the fire service. We are excited to have him bring his experience and passion to Local 2956 and look forward to working alongside him for many years to come.

Today marks the beginning of a new chapter for five members of the Lake Mohegan Professional Firefighters.

Please join Local 2956 in congratulating Probationary Firefighters Sam Guida, Nick Colello, Nick Rubeo, Jake Tussel, and Paul Cirillo, on graduating from the Westchester County Career Chiefs Fire Academy.

Graduating from the academy represents far more than completing a course. It’s the result of months of sacrifice, relentless training, early mornings, long days, and countless hours spent mastering the skills required to protect the lives and property of the communities we serve. Every evolution, drill, and classroom lesson has prepared these firefighters for the responsibility that comes with wearing the Lake Mohegan patch.

While graduation is a tremendous accomplishment, it’s only the first milestone in a lifelong career of learning. The real work begins now as they continue their training alongside the experienced members of our department and answer their first calls as career firefighters.

We would also like to recognize the instructors, staff, Westchester Career Chiefs Association, and Westchester County Department of Emergency Services for their dedication to developing the next generation of firefighters. Your commitment to excellence helps ensure our communities remain in capable hands.

Congratulations, Sam, Nick, Nick, Jake, and Paul, as well as all of the other members of the class! We are proud to have you as members of Local 2956 and look forward to watching your careers grow.
