This past week members of our Paint Punta Gorda Purple planning committee traveled to Capital Hill to share their stories and advocate for the bipartisan Alzheimer’s Screening and Prevention (ASAP) Act.

The Alzheimer’s Association is having an awareness & fundraising event tomorrow February 7th. GiGi’s Ice Cream of Punta Gorda will be a supporter.

Here’s my reason for participating in this important event:

I support the Alzheimer’s Association to honor my Dad Ernie Sangastiano who passed away in 2015. He had the beginning stages when my Mom passed away. After her passing he spiraled down quickly. Alzheimer’s is a very cruel disease. You slowly watch your loved one slipping away a little bit every day. Physically they look the same but sadly that’s all. No one and I mean no one should ever have to endure this hideous disease.

I ask you to donate whatever you can. We will match dollar for dollar. Everyone sadly knows someone with Alzheimer's. Let’s help be a part of finding a cure.
