🇺🇸 Remembering D-Day | June 6, 1944 🇺🇸

Today, we pause to remember one of the most pivotal moments in world history—the Allied invasion of Normandy, known simply as D-Day.

In the early hours of June 6, 1944, more than 156,000 Allied soldiers crossed the English Channel and stormed the beaches of Normandy under relentless enemy fire. Many were young men who carried not only rifles and equipment, but also the hopes of a world longing for freedom.

As we reflect on the 82nd anniversary of D-Day, we honor the heroes who fought, the thousands who never returned home, and the veterans whose stories continue to inspire future generations.

Their bravery changed the course of history. Their legacy lives on through our commitment to remember.

The Military Heritage Museum proudly preserves and shares these stories so that the sacrifices of the Greatest Generation are never forgotten.

“We will remember them.”

🇺🇸 Please take a moment today to honor a D-Day veteran, a World War II veteran, or a family member who served.

MILITARY HERITAGE MUSEUM SUMMER CLOSURE NOTICE

The Military Heritage Museum will be closed from June 1 through June 8 for our annual summer closure as we complete projects, deep cleaning, maintenance, spring cleaning, and install new flooring throughout portions of the museum.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to refresh and improve the museum experience for our visitors, volunteers, and veterans.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back when we reopen on June 9, refreshed and ready for an exciting new season ahead! 🇺🇸

Today is not about barbecues, sales, or a long weekend.

Today is about the men and women who never came home.

It is about the empty seats at family tables.
The folded flags handed to grieving families.
The sacrifice of those who gave everything so that generations of Americans could live free.

At the Military Heritage Museum, we remember the fallen not as names in history books, but as heroes, sons, daughters, fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, and friends.

This Memorial Day, pause for a moment of gratitude.
Honor their sacrifice.
Speak their names.
Never forget the price of freedom.
