We not only take in parrots for whatever reason and find appropriate, loving homes for them. We provide community education at local adoption events. We will also make presentations to organizations and clubs upon request. Parrot Outreach Society will help families in temporary crisis or need of food to enable them to keep their parrot. 🦜💚 A BIG thank you to John & Kathleen Meneely! 💚🦜

John and Kathleen generously donated two new boing rope perches for our feathered residents, and as you can see, Bartock has claimed it as his own😍.

Boings are so much more than just a place to perch—they encourage climbing, movement, balance, play, and exploration, all important parts of keeping our parrots active and enriched.

We are incredibly grateful to John and Kathleen for thinking of our birds and helping us provide them with the enrichment they need and deserve. ❤️

Bartock gives this donation two wings up! 🪽🪽

Thank you, John & Kathleen, for making life a little more fun for the birds in our care! 🥰🦜

A little surprise can bring a LOT of joy! 🦜💚

A huge thank you to a very special anonymous donor who generously donated two new bird toys for our feathered friends!

There’s nothing better than getting to place a brand-new toy in a cage and knowing it will provide enrichment, curiosity, playtime, and plenty of beak-approved fun. 🥰

We may not know your name, but we hope you know how much your kindness means to us—and to the birds who get to enjoy in your gift.

Thank you, anonymous friend, for helping us make their days a little brighter! 🪶💕

Watch as one of the new toys goes in! 👀🦜

In case you missed it. Thanks Andy!

We sure could use newspapers. You can drop them off at the rescue (1205 Elizabeth Street Punta Gorda Fl). Thanks!

🦜💦 TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK! 💦🦜

A HUGE thank you to the amazing Punta Gorda Winn-Dixie volunteers who came out to Parrot Outreach Society and rolled up their sleeves to help us power wash our bird cages! 💪❤️

Keeping our cages clean is a big job, but it’s also incredibly important for providing a clean, healthy, and comfortable environment for the birds in our care. Thanks to this hardworking crew, everything got a much-needed deep cleaning and is looking fantastic! ✨

We also want to give a BIG shout-out to our wonderful Parrot Outreach volunteers who came in to work alongside the Winn-Dixie team. It was a LOT of work, but with great teamwork, plenty of laughs, and everyone pitching in, the results were absolutely worth it! 🙌

And the birds? 😂🦜 They were perfectly happy to supervise from their play stands while enjoying fresh oranges 🍊 and watching everyone else do the hard work!

Days like this remind us how much can be accomplished when our community comes together. Thank you, Punta Gorda Winn-Dixie, and thank you to every Parrot Outreach volunteer who helped make the day such a success! ❤️

We appreciate you more than you know!

🚨 PARROT OUTREACH NEEDS OUR COMMUNITY — AND WE NEED YOU NOW. 🚨

Add: we currently have about 7k sq feet. We think we could make 4-5k sq feet work. We would like to stay in Charlotte county but lee county is an option. We are licensed currently through fwc in Charlotte county.

This is not an easy post for us to make, but we have reached a point where we need to ask our community for help.

Our lease is up for renewal in October.

If we re-sign, our base rent will increase to $7,920 per month — nearly $8,000 every single month before electricity, insurance, food, veterinary care, cleaning supplies, cages, toys, enrichment, and all of the other expenses that come with operating a parrot rescue.

But there is an even bigger concern.

Re-signing means locking Parrot Outreach into another THREE-YEAR lease, with our rent increasing an additional 7% every year.

That is a financial commitment we simply cannot responsibly make.

Everything has gone up. Food prices have climbed dramatically. Cages and supplies cost more. Veterinary expenses continue to rise. Every dollar that goes toward an increasingly unaffordable rent payment is a dollar that cannot go toward the birds who depend on us.

And the birds don't stop needing help because expenses went up.

They still come through our doors sick, injured, frightened, neglected, or grieving the loss of the only family they have ever known. Some have outlived their owners. Some have been abandoned. Some come from families facing circumstances they never expected.

And whenever possible, we have always found a way to say:

“Yes. We will help.”

Now, we are asking our community to say YES to us.

🦜 WE DESPERATELY NEED TO FIND A NEW COMMERCIAL SPACE FOR PARROT OUTREACH SOCIETY.

Do you own a commercial building or property that you would be willing to rent to our nonprofit at an affordable rate?

Do you know someone who does?

Do you know a property owner, developer, business owner, realtor, investor, church, organization, or community member who might have a space available and would be willing to give a nonprofit rescue a chance?

Please connect us.

We aren't looking for anything fancy. We are looking for a safe, functional and affordable place where we can continue doing what we have done for years — rescuing, rehabilitating, caring for, and finding homes for parrots who need us.

Parrot Outreach does so much for this community. We take in birds when families have nowhere else to turn. We provide education and support. We rehabilitate birds others have given up on. We help families keep their birds when possible, and when that isn't possible, we make sure those birds have somewhere safe to go.

But right now, the future of our rescue depends on finding an affordable place to call home.

October is coming quickly.

Signing another three-year lease at these rates, knowing the rent will continue increasing 7% every year, isn't the answer. We need to find a sustainable home that allows us to put our resources where they belong — into the animals and the community we serve.

And we cannot do this alone.

Even if you don't own a building, YOU CAN HELP.

Please share this post. Tag commercial property owners. Tag realtors. Send it to local businesses, churches, organizations, developers and anyone who might know someone with available space.

Sometimes the person who can change everything is only one share away.

For years, Parrot Outreach has been there when a bird needed somewhere to go and when a family needed somewhere to turn.

Today, Parrot Outreach needs somewhere to go.

We are asking the community we have served for so many years to please help us find our next home.

🦜❤️ Our birds are counting on us. And right now, we're counting on you.

PLEASE SHARE.

🌟 Volunteer of the Month — Rachael! 🌟

Please join us in celebrating Rachael, our Volunteer of the Month! 🦜💚

Rachael is only 16 years old and has already been part of our rescue family for almost two years. Watching her grow during that time has been such a joy. She has come such a long way and has developed an incredible confidence with the birds. There’s no fear when it comes to handling them, picking them up, spending time socializing with them, or jumping in wherever she is needed.

And Rachael doesn’t just show up for her scheduled shifts—she truly shows up for the rescue. She offers to help take birds to vet appointments, comes in when we’re short-handed or someone needs coverage, and is always willing to lend a hand.

For someone so young, her dedication, dependability, and willingness to help are something really special. We are so lucky to have watched her grow into the volunteer she is today, and she is truly a joy to have at the rescue.

Congratulations, Rachael! 🎉🦜 We appreciate you more than you know, and we can’t wait to see how far you continue to go! 💚
