Established to foster diversity of thought and experience, International House of Rhode Island was founded in 1963 by Bili and Gil Mason, as an independent, non-profit multi-cultural center. The basis of the mission and vision created by this welcoming organization focuses on language learning, cultural exchange, international fellowship, hospitality and local

assistance for international visitors through direct engagement with local communities. Aiming to create a "home away from home" for visiting scholars, professors, researchers - along with their spouses, children, & families - while engaging local citizens in gaining cultural awareness, sensitivities, and a deepened knowledge of global issues through programs created to promote these valuable intersections.
