We are just two weeks away! On Wednesday, September 9th at 12pm EDT, Dr. Michelle Haslam will present her critical talk on the risks, contraindications, and potential for psychological harm within Buddhist sects.

What makes spiritual abuse so difficult to spot and report? 🛑

According to clinical observation and survivor testimonies, common drivers include:

❌ Using teachings on "karma" and "equanimity" to victim-blame
❌ Labeling trauma and distress as "attachment to self" or "self-cherishing"
❌ Dismissing whistleblowers or accusing them of having a "deluded mind"
❌ The lack of trauma-informed awareness in spiritual and wellbeing settings

When meditation is integrated into clinical therapies like DBT and CFT, we rarely discuss the potential risks—or what happens when spiritual teachings are used to mask psychological pressure and abuse.

Join Dr. Michelle Haslam—a UK-based senior clinical psychologist and survivor of spiritual abuse within Buddhist communities—for a critical live presentation on the dynamics of psychological harm and spiritualized victim-blaming in Buddhist sects.

Learn to recognize how concepts like karma and equanimity can be weaponized to invalidate trauma, and understand the systemic barriers to help-seeking and whistleblowing.
