Kesem at Rhode Island Kesem is a nationwide community, led by passionate college student leaders, that supports children through and beyond their parent’s cancer.

Kesem is a nationwide community, driven by passionate college student leaders, that supports children through and beyond a parent’s cancer. Its mission is to support these children with innovative, fun-filled programs that foster a lasting community. Kesem programs have a lasting impact on children by providing them a peer-support network that understands their unique needs, builds confidence, and strengthens their communication skills. The flagship program of Kesem, Camp Kesem, operates 131 free summer camps across the country for children ages 6 to 18 who have been impacted by a parent’s cancer. Camp Kesem Rhode Island was founded in 2015 and supports children in the greater Rhode Island community by providing a free week-long summer camp experience and year-round peer support. Camp Kesem at Brown University is operated by 40 student volunteers and serves 65 campers ages 6-18 per year. In 2019, Kesem served more than 10,200 children coast-to-coast—all funded by generous donations from individuals, foundations, and corporate partners. Kesem is a federally registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization.
