This is a snapshot of where PWD started to where we are today thanks to so many human supporters and animals that never gave up and just needed a little extra help.

MEET FOZZIE!

This little guy is 4.5 pounds of pure sweetness!

Fozzie's story is one of those stories that reminds us of why rescue matters.

Fozzie was found by a Good Samaritan on the side of the road, possibly after being hit by a car. He was taken to the shelter, where they indicated that he was blind/had significant vision loss and estimated him to be around 12 years old.

But once Fozzie came into foster care and saw our veterinarian, we got some wonderful surprises!

Fozzie is NOT blind and has no vision issues! And our veterinarians believe he is much younger than originally thought — approximately 2–4 years old!

This sweet little Poodle is now looking for the forever family he deserves.

A little about Fozzie:

Age: 2–4 years old
Weight: 4.5 pounds
Personality: Super sweet and incredibly chill
Loves: cuddling and being in your lap & following his human everywhere!
Good with Dogs? Does well with other small, calm dogs
Housetrained? Making great progress!
Crate Trained? Yes!
Good with children? Young children make him a little nervous, so older children would be best

Fozzie isn't looking for a busy or crazy lifestyle. He'd love a calm, loving home where he can spend his days following his favorite person around, curling up in a lap, and soaking up all the love.

After everything this tiny boy has been through, he deserves a family who will show him just how wonderful life can be.

He's the kind of little dog who doesn't need much — just love, a cozy lap, and someone to call his own.

If you're looking for a tiny, sweet, devoted little companion, Fozzie could be your perfect match!

Ready to make Fozzie part of your family? Fill out an adoption application today- found in comments.

Please share Fozzie's story and help this little guy find the forever home he deserves!

Griffin, now “Ben”, has been adopted!

Ben came to us in neglected condition, severely underweight and suffering from demodex mange. His first years of life were spent outside, without proper nutrition and clean environment.

After a month or so of regular meals, a clean environment, necessary medical care, and medicated baths his beautiful shepherd coat and spunky personality started to shine!

We could not be happier for him that he landed with a long time PWD friend, supporter and return adopter. We know that he will finally be a cherished member of the family ❤️

Congratulations Ben!

Here is an update from Ben’s Mom:

“I am a firm believer that one animal sends you another animal to fill the hole in your heart. On Wednesday, February 11th this year my sweet Oliver was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma cancer in his heart. The diagnosis was devastating yet he managed to give us 11 more weeks to love and spoil him.

A few weeks before he passed, our cat Hobbes starting sleeping with Oliver and me. This was very unusual as Hobbes is a crazy night owl who loves to terrorize everyone during the late hours. I believe that Oliver had a little talk with Hobbes and told him to “step up” and carry on for him when he was gone. Hobbes sleeps with me most nights now and it is comforting.

Fast forward to June17th. Joyce was telling me that Griffin the white shepherd was anxious to be in a home with humans that could give him the guidance and attention he so desperately needed and deserved. So, Jim and I loaded Pearl into the car and off to PWD we went to do a meet and greet. Pearl could have cared less about Griffin, now Ben, that day which was fine with us. We loaded both dogs into the car and home we went.

Ben is a devoted, momma’s boy, Velcro dog…. you know, the one that situates himself in the room so that he can watch your every move. He reminds me of our Chocolate Lab, Makx, who never took his eyes off of me so much that I have called him Makx by mistake. Ben is a natural herder, a destroyer of toys, a rough tumbler and now a good brother and playmate to Pearl. He is no longer bald and is quite the super shedder! He is good with other dogs and people. If you knew Oliver, you can appreciate what a relief this was to all of us.

We love having Ben as a new addition to our “blended” family. He has earned the following nicknames so far; Gentle Ben, Benito, Bad Bunny Ben, Ben-Ben

Thank you PWD for putting Ben in our arms. Furever grateful – The Delio’s “

Yesterday, we said goodbye to one of our longtime residents, Matt.

Our team is very dedicated to our wheelchair dogs and we all work incredibly hard to keep them rolling, but sometimes their bodies simply become tired and weak.

Over this past year, we knew Matt’s quality of life had declined, and we had to make the heartbreaking decision to let him go.

There wasn’t a person or dog that Matt didn’t like. He was truly an all-around good-natured, loving boy who brought so much joy to everyone around him.

Matt was once a throwaway dog, luckily found his way to us and spent his remaining years surrounded by love, care, and his PWD family who adored him. He became one of the most beloved dogs here at PWD.

Run free, sweet Matt.

Guess who completed her 18th and final radiation treatment today?

Cleo graduated treatment! We don’t know what the future holds but we will continue to think positive!

She hasn’t let any of this bother her that’s for sure!

Thank you to all that have helped support Cleo’s journey.
