We’re so grateful to and producer for helping Mickey and Moose’s story reach even more people.

This moment is really a testament to the power of storytelling. Cow Trip, the beautiful documentary created by , has introduced millions of people to Mickey and Moose and opened countless conversations about the realities of the dairy industry that many people simply never knew.

After watching the film, Parrish was deeply moved by the boys and inspired to learn more—leading to this CBS News feature and another opportunity to share their story.

A huge thank you to Joanna and Jared, Parrish and CBS News, and everyone who has watched and shared Cow Trip. Every person who meets Mickey and Moose is an opportunity to expand our circle of compassion—and that kind of change has a way of reaching far beyond two cows.

And if you haven’t, head over to ‘s YouTube channel to watch Cow Trip!

‼️ From unwanted dairy calves to . ❤️🐮

Tune in today on your local CBS affiliate to see Mickey and Moose featured nationwide!

After watching Cow Trip, the film created by Joanna Zelman that airs on The Dodo’s YouTube channel, CBS producer Parrish Smith was deeply moved by the boys’ story and surprised to learn the reality that male calves are often treated as byproducts of the dairy industry.

We’re so grateful to Joanna and her dad, Jared, Parrish, CBS News, and everyone who has helped share Mickey and Moose’s journey with the world. We can’t wait for more people to meet these two very special boys.

PS: How cute is it that, four years later, Mickey still recognizes Jared and greets him like an old friend every time he visits? 😭😍

We call it a “foster fail” but little Magpie here probably calls it hitting the jackpot!

After quarantining this sweet girl for a month and after several different plans for transport fell through, we are taking it all as a sign that she was just meant to be an animal ambassador at Rosie’s!

Welcome to the flock, Magpie—we love you so much 🖤

We grow up learning what love sounds like in cats and dogs, but the truth is that all animals have their own ways of expressing comfort, trust, and affection—like how Coco is greeting Victoria here.

This adorable open-mouth greeting, sometimes called a “piggy puff,” is an affectionate vocalization where pigs blow warm air while softly grunting. It’s often compared to a cat’s purr and is something they use with the humans and fellow pigs they trust most. ❤️

One of the greatest gifts of sanctuary is getting to witness moments like these and learning to recognize them for what they are. The language may be a little different, but the feeling behind it is remarkably familiar.
