Potomac Community Village is part of a growing movement in America for local citizen groups to organize themselves and their neighbors to help maintain a vital community as our citizens remain in their homes as they age. Academic research shows that seniors who are members of community villages are happier, have more friendships, attend more events, know more neighbors, experience fewer falls, wal

k faster, are not sick as often, have better mental health and are less lonely. We have monthly meetings at the Potomac Community Center and have begun forming social groups in a variety of informal ways. At this time we have a corps of volunteers who can provide transportation for members in need we are looking for more volunteers to expand our ability to offer services. We are building a help desk staff and continue to seek writers to spread the word through communications on the web and Facebook. We need a grant writer to work on the development of social programs. We love volunteers who are ready to learn new skills to help their neighbors (who can help them in return in other ways).
