Life and death are part of farming, but it’s never easy. After losing our 11 chickens, we’re grateful for the care and understanding our students have shown. Now we welcome this sweet new batch of chicks, hatched by our amazing sixth graders. 🐣

The farm does not stop growing! So thankful to yesterdays volunteer group. They helped harvest strawberries and snap peas. On Monday, the rest of our harvest went to Aquidneck Food Pantry.

So bittersweet, today was our last Portsmouth Ag day of the year. The kids may be fully checked out for summer, but they still showed up happy to hang with the chickens, play outside, and be together at the farm.

We will truly miss our three 8th graders, Evelyn, Grant, and Lucas, who have been with us since 5th grade. Their dedication, leadership, and love for this program have shown time and time again, and we really hope this is not goodbye, just “see you back at the farm soon.”

We are also saying goodbye to three of our military kids, Avery, Maddison, and Sasha. It has been such a treat having them with us this year, and we are so grateful for them and their families’ service. They will be very missed.

What a special group. 💚

We are beyond thrilled and incredibly grateful to share that AgInnovation Farm has been awarded the Impact100 Newport County grant!

This transformational support will help us fund a farm manager, strengthen our farm-to-school work, and move us closer to one of our biggest goals, growing food with students that can make its way into our school cafeterias.

At AgInnovation, students do more than visit a farm. They plant, harvest, learn about soil health, food safety, sustainability, and agriculture, and now they will be part of helping bring fresh, healthy food to school lunches.

This grant is an investment in our students, our schools, our community, and the future of local food on Aquidneck Island. We are so thankful to Impact100 Newport County for believing in this work and helping us grow the next chapter of AgInnovation.

Our students are growing food, growing knowledge, and growing change, and we could not be more excited for what comes next.
