How do we even begin to recap this week? 🐷❤️

Some weeks at Wildlings are impossible to put into words, and this was definitely one of them.

Between caring for our residents, navigating pig politics (yes, that’s a real thing around here 😂), working on projects, preparing for winter, and somehow squeezing in a presentation about the sanctuary, it’s been a whirlwind.

Gloria and Dolly are still figuring out where they fit into their new herd, and apparently some of the boys have decided they need to remind everyone who’s boss. There have been house takeovers, hurt feelings, lots of reassurance, and even a late-night pig pile that reminded me exactly why we do all of this. ❤️

Meanwhile, we’re continuing to make improvements around the sanctuary, juggling the never-ending list of things that need fixing, building, cleaning, or organizing, and doing our best to make sure everyone feels safe, comfortable, and loved.

There have been long days, late nights, a few frustrations, plenty of laughter, and some really beautiful moments tucked in between all the chaos.

And somewhere in all of that, life outside the sanctuary keeps happening too.

I’m behind on sharing updates, so consider this a little glimpse into our wonderfully chaotic world.

It isn’t always easy. It definitely isn’t glamorous. But these animals make every bit of it worthwhile.

Tonight, during night checks, I discovered that Aegon had decided Gloria and Dolly’s house was now HIS house.

The girls were too scared to go inside, so they had curled up together in a pigloo instead.

Aegon has become one of the dominant members of the herd, and since Gloria and Dolly are still the new girls, he apparently feels the need to remind them who’s boss.

I walked the girls back to their house, politely asked Aegon to be kind, and gave him some belly rubs. For a moment, I thought maybe we could all live happily ever after in one cozy pig house… but nope.

After several attempts to reclaim their house, Aegon finally gave up and returned to his stall in the barn.

I decided to stay with Gloria and Dolly for a while to make sure they felt safe. I lay down beside them, and before long, Gloria snuggled right up against me while Dolly started carefully tucking me in with the bedding. 🥹❤️

And just like that, I became part of their little pig pile.

It was one of those incredibly peaceful moments that makes everything else fade away. Just the three of us, warm and cozy, with two girls who have been through so much finally feeling safe enough to settle in.

A part of me wished I could have stayed there all night.

But eventually, my family noticed I was missing and came looking for me. 😂

And that’s how some of these photos happened.

Sometimes night checks take a little longer than expected. And sometimes, those extra moments turn out to be the very best part of the day. ❤️🐽

I’ve been trying to get this post up since last Sunday’s Volunteer Day, but it has been such a busy week that I’m just now getting a chance to share some of the incredible progress happening at Wildlings Forest! ❤️🐷🐔🦙

Thanks to our amazing volunteers and everyone who has contributed materials, funds, and time to these projects, we’re making some much needed improvements to our residents shelters just in time for the colder, wetter months ahead!

🐔 The new bird run is coming together! We’re transforming the alpacas old shelter into a secure, covered run for our birds. The best part? The alpacas feeders are positioned right outside the run, making it a pretty perfect setup for everyone!

🦙 A new shelter for the alpacas! Last Sunday, our volunteers put together a wonderful new covered area where the alpacas can stay dry and enjoy their hay. It’s already making such a difference!

🐷 A dining area fit for princesses! Our princess pigs also have a new covered feeding area next to the barn, so they can enjoy their meals without standing out in the rain. Because, of course, princesses deserve the royal treatment! 👑

Tomorrow is another Volunteer Day, and we’re hoping to put the finishing touches on the bird run!

These projects are a huge undertaking for our little sanctuary, and none of this would be possible without the generosity of our supporters and the hard work of our volunteers. Every donated dollar, building material, and hour of labor helps us create safer, more comfortable spaces for the animals who call Wildlings home.

Yesterday was one of those days where you just have to laugh at the chaos. 😅

My day started at 5 a.m., loading Dolly and Gloria into a rental hybrid Jeep for their trip to OSU for surgery. After dropping them off, I headed out to work a full day at my logistics sales job.

Everything was going relatively smoothly until the Jeep decided it had had enough and completely broke down on the side of the highway. 🤦‍♀️

After dealing with that mess, I had to make my way to Enterprise, rent ANOTHER vehicle, and get back on the road so I could finish my workday and make it back to OSU to pick up the girls.

We finally made it home around 7:30 p.m., just in time to feed everyone, tackle the evening chores, and collapse into bed before another 5 a.m. wake-up call.

So, if you haven’t heard from me lately, or I’m a little behind on messages, this is a tiny glimpse into what life has looked like around here. 😂

But the most important news? Dolly and Gloria are doing well! ❤️🐷🐷 And at the end of a ridiculously long, exhausting day, that’s what matters most.

Just another day juggling a full-time career, a farmed animal sanctuary, and whatever unexpected adventure life decides to throw my way! 🥴💕

One of the biggest stressors with Gloria and Dolly right now has been figuring out how the heck we’re going to get these two to the vet for their spays next week. 🐷🐷

Standard pig crates that would safely hold them don’t fit in my vehicle, so we’ve been trying to come up with alternative options. Since they’re each about the size of a medium-sized dog, I thought… harnesses! Genius, right?

Well. One harness lasted approximately a few minutes before it was completely destroyed. 😂 We quickly removed the second one before Dolly or Gloria could make it a matching set.

So, back to the drawing board on transportation. 😬

Meanwhile, today our amazing volunteers helped us enclose an area and clean out a little house where the girls can stay and recover after surgery. We got everything set up, put them inside… and they immediately broke out. 😂

We put them back, reinforced and adjusted the fencing, and as of tonight they seem content enough to stay put. The real test will be whether they’re still there in the morning. 🤞

Hopefully they decide this is home, because next week is a BIG week for these girls. Now I just need to figure out how to actually get them to their appointment. 🐷❤️

Never a dull moment at Wildlings. Today was a DAY.
