Some numbers are more than numbers. They carry memories, love, and the stories of the people who came before us.
This is Keoni’s second year playing for CYFA. When he first joined football, he hoped to wear #36—a number with deep meaning for his family. But that number wasn’t available, and he was given #75 instead. We believe things happen for a reason: that year, both his maternal Papa and Nama turned 75. Fun fact: they have the same birthday.. same day, month and year. :))) so Keoni dedicated his season to them.
That same year, our family learned that Nama had stage 4 ovarian cancer. Keoni found strength in her and scored a touchdown for her. He showed her the video, and the moment they shared—the joyful tears, her smile, and the hug and kiss on his forehead—became a memory he will carry forever. 🥹☺️🥰
Nama gained her wings on January 18th 2026, but her love is still with us. Her #75 remains in our hearts, and we imagine her carrying it with her as she watches over us. Rest in love, Nama Lile. Until we meet again.
This year, Keoni finally gets to wear #36—and it’s a year filled with meaning. Twenty years ago, his uncle Petuliki began playing football as a freshman at Jefferson High School, wearing that same number. He played only that season before passing away on June 12, 2006. Now, two decades later, Keoni is stepping onto the field in #36, carrying his uncle’s legacy forward. He dye the bottom of his hair teal in honor of his Nama while representing his uncle number on his back 😍
And Keoni is someone who carries love wherever he goes. He’s kind, hardworking, and always ready to help. You’ll often find him outside feeding the pigs, mowing the lawn, climbing trees, riding the sheep, or cleaning the barn. He loves learning, takes on every challenge with determination, and cares deeply for his siblings and family. With his Hawaiian and Tongan roots, a big family cheering him on, and faith guiding his heart, he has so much love behind him.
#75 will always remind us of Nama. #36 will honor Uncle Petuliki. And now it’s Keoni’s time—to wear the number, live the values, and build a legacy of his own. 💙
