Eastside Village

Eastside Village is the first grassroots aging-in-place Village in the Portland metro-area.

A Village is a group of like-minded people in a geographic area who come together to help each other age affordably in their own homes. This kind of village is not a building or a real estate development or a retirement community. It is a coordinated network of volunteer and reduced cost services that supports village members to do as much for as little cost for as long as possible.

Hot summer mornings are tailor-made for iced coffee drinks and fun conversations with friends! Eastside Village members enjoyed both this past week at our coffee meetup at Fred Meyer Starbucks on Glisan. We’re there every Wednesday at 10 a.m. - drop in and join us!

Tracey Hillman led another great Messy, Beautiful Art workshop yesterday. A repeat of her popular gelli plate botanical printing class, participants unleashed their creativity onto print after beautiful print. Thanks, Tracey, for introducing us to this art form!

Another fabulous Coed Trips and Treks outing yesterday. This time it was a ride on the historic Willamette Shore Trolley from Portland to Lake Oswego and back, followed by lunch at the iconic Old Spaghetti Factory. For many of us, the trolley ride was one of those “I’ve always wanted to do this” checklist items. Eastside Villagers pretty much filled the entire car! Robert, our motorman, was a knowledgeable tour guide, pointing out the sights as we passed landmarks and other points of interest. Thanks again to John for organizing such a fun trip!
