Summer is here, and our Kenton Rose Garden could use some neighborly love! There are two volunteer meetups happening this June, and we'd love your help.

June Dates:
🌹 Tuesday, June 2 | 6–8 PM
🌹 Saturday, June 20 | 9:30 AM–12 PM

Location: N Interstate & N McClellan

Never pruned a rose in your life? No problem, volunteers at the garden can show you the ropes!

Just bring:
- A water bottle
- A hat
- Gloves
- Clippers if you've got 'em

Whether you come for 30 minutes or the full session, it all makes a difference. Plus, it's a really lovely way to spend a summer evening (or morning!) with your neighbors. The rose garden is one of those special little spots that make Kenton beautiful.

See you in the garden! 🌸

Hey Kenton! 👋 We’d love for you to join the KNA board!

You don’t need any special experience to serve, and KNA does a lot more than people realize. We help put on neighborhood events, advocate for environmental and livability issues that impact Kenton residents, weigh in on what gets built, and work to help every neighbor stay in the loop. Everyone has something to contribute, and there's something you’re already great at that probably matters more than you think.

Swipe through 👉 for a few examples of how everyday folks help out. And remember, they’re just examples! If one sounds like you (or someone you should tag), come say hi.

🗳️ Nominate yourself and vote at the KNA General Meeting on June 10.

Saturday’s low-key & free bike ride was a lot of fun! Our small but mighty group of four riders plus an adorable pup named Ocho, rode to Smith and Bybee Wetlands Natural Area where we saw lots of birds, a bunny, and a family of river otters hunting.

We’re thinking about making this chill meetup a regular thing. What do you think: Would you be interested in a monthly Kenton & North Portland bike ride? Let us know below!

Join us for a low-key & free bike ride exploring North Portland! Adults and older kids with parents are welcome. Hope to see you for a meandering, chatty, gazeful ride!

🗓 Saturday, May 2, from 9:30am - Noon

📍 Meet at Kenton Park at 9:30am ready to ride to Smith and Bybee Lakes for a meandering bird walk in the wetlands before returning to Kenton by noon.

🚲 The route will begin on lightly traveled streets and then on multi use paths (starting on south side of Columbia Blvd) to the park. The total distance is around 8 miles there and back. The pace will be gentle.

😎 BYO water, snacks, sunscreen, bike lock & helmet, binoculars/camera (if wanted for birding), and curiosity. Optional: Decorate your bike helmet with bling and whimsy, in honor of the Kentucky Derby! The winning "Derby Helmet" — chosen by the riders — will receive a small prize.
