"DOGE-wannabes who are pushing outdated, harmful ideas."

Today, May 30, 2025 is National Heat Awareness Day and it serves as a critical reminder that heat is not only uncomfortable, but life-threatening.

While extreme heat affects all of us, it disproportionately impacts people experiencing homelessness, older adults, and many low-income communities who live in neighborhoods with low canopy cover and lack of access to cooling supplies and equipment. As the weather begins to warm and we approach a potentially hot summer, our awareness — and action — must grow too.

Hydration saves lives. Community care saves lives. Cooling spaces saves lives. Let’s look out for each other!

Find help and resources for dealing with the hot weather at multco.us/hot.

Staying active can be tough with our busy lives. Here are three things you can do:

1) Set aside small amounts of time (like 15-min segments) throughout the day to move.

2) Find a local group activity. This can be anything from walking, to dancing, or yoga. Having buddies helps us stay consistent and makes moving fun!

3) Try that new thing that you’ve always wanted to do! Want to bike but nervous to start? Join a local cycling club.
