We are always looking for people to help with the following tasks: Preparing food, cleaning, picking up food from donation sites, transporting meals by bike and trailer and getting the word out on social media. We always need help in our kitchens and appreciate all skill levels. Getting started with volunteering is easy! No prior experience necessary. Many hands make light work! We encourage community as opposed to handouts for those that can. We request those that partake to bring their own container and utensil, sometimes we have extras, but we want to avoid doing more dishes. It’s best to bring a bowl as we often serve soup or something with a secure lid so you can take cooked food home with you. We do all pick-ups/deliveries of donated & liberated food, as well as our prepared meal, by bicycle (or other modes of human-powered transport).

Hi y'all. We're now dropping off produce on Fridays 11am at the free fridge on SE29th and Gladstone (behind C-Bar) The produce is donated by New Seasons Seven Corners Thank you, New Seasons!
We could use some cleanup help on Thursday nights or Fridays before 10:30am to wipe the fridge and shelves, and clear out the trash can.
Thanks!

Emergency fundraiser update! We are now over halfway to our goal to raise $288,000 in critical supportive funding for Street Roots by September 30th, and we have just one week left to secure the remaining $130,743.50 needed to avoid making significant cuts.

Together, with multitudes of encouraging support from our community, we've raised $157,256.20 from over 1,000 people who recognize and champion the importance of Street Roots, the hard work of our vendors, and the value of our newspaper. Here's how you can be a part of this moment with us:

πŸ“£ AMPLIFY our call for support to your network.

πŸ’΅ DONATE if you can.

🀝 FUNDRAISE to expand our reach & your impact.

πŸ‘₯ and ADVOCATE for Street Roots and our vendors in the community.

πŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈ Now, it's the final sprint. We've accomplished a great feat together in a short amount of time, but we still have a long way to go to reach our goal! Take action for Street Roots in the next seven days to help secure a steadfast future for Portland's street paper. πŸ’›

Hello Portland community! As some of you may have heard/noticed, we're drifting away from using Meta (FB/IG) platforms for our communications, for various reasons. Namely the fact that mutual aid groups like ours are getting censored, hidden & targeted, to say the least.

We will always meet at Buckman Elementary playground on Wednesdays + Saturdays at 5 pm in Spring/Summer and switch to 4:30 pm during darker months, late-Fall/Winter. We will always have a vegan potluck and produce giveaway. Rarely do we ever cancel a serving.

If you are interested in helping out, the best thing you can do is come to a serving to see how it works and find where you'd like to help. If you message us looking to help, we will likely tell you the same thing. With that being said, you can get more info via our LinkTree below.

We love being able to reach a broad audience here, but have found that our local community are not getting seen as much as we would like. If people aren't seeing our posts, how can they engage with us? Please like + share this post if you are local to the area!

Today (Wednesday) is the last day that we're starting our serving at 4:30! Daylight savings is coming so we'll be going back to 5 pm servings for Spring + Summer starting Saturday, March 8. We'll be in the Buckman Elementary lower playground on this lovely day 🌞

Comment below if you're bringing a dish to our vegan potluck. Don't forget to bring your bags, containers, utensils etc.

Please stay home if you are sick! If you are able to bring hand sanitizer and napkins for yourself, it would be appreciated. Do not serve yourself or touch multiple items without clean hands. Please do not lick your hands while eating and then go back for more. There are people who can help serve you, just ask. Thanks all!
