Accent Pontiac, an El Sistema-inspired music program in Pontiac, MI, launched its pilot program on January 10th, 2017. The program is partnering with Walt Whitman and Alcott Elementary Schools and Pontiac Middle School. Accent Pontiac is currently serving approximately 125 second and third grade students. Students receive 45 minutes of bucket band instruction two days per week during the school da

y. Our after-school program includes Intermediate Brass two days per week, Introductory Brass two days per week, and Performance Bucket Band two days per week as well as snack and enrichment activities. Accent Pontiac is dedicated to the belief that all students deserve equitable access to a robust music education.

This FREE drop-in event celebrates the diverse people and communities who live, work and support the Pontiac community. Enjoy a variety of hands-on activities for all ages and abilities, including:

Tomorrow our middle and high school musicians have a meeting because on Tuesday we leave for camp in Lexington, MI!

Shout out to teamwork! This week AP’s Dr. Tia and Mr. Chase have been working with Mr. Deluca and Mr. Bentley from ITA and PHS to put on a successful band camp for the Pontiac Schools Marching Band. We’re all super proud of the progress our young musicians made this week and are impressed by the dedication and leadership they exhibited showing up to work hard each day!

As we look back on 10 years of impact for Accent Pontiac, we would be remiss not to celebrate those responsible for helping create this amazing social change for music program for Pontiac youth. Before Accent Pontiac became a 501(c)(3) in 2016, it was only a thought - a dream that four women made possible through vision and ex*****on.

They thought, read, dreamed, argued, and planned together - for over a year. They were equally invested, incredibly knowledgeable and supportive, and willing to put forward ideas that kept inching the vision of Accent Pontiac forward. Please join us in honoring Accent Pontiac’s founding Executive Director, Tina Zoller, and founding Board Members, Jan Keeling, Linda Ayres, and Anita Pinson (Posthumously) at our 10th Anniversary Celebration.
