CHAPO.
We have to get this sweet boy out of the shelter for good! Someone has to be looking for a low-key, mild mannered mature boy. He has been at the Oakland County Animal Control & Pet Adoption Center in Pontiac, MI since January, and we say ENOUGH of that.

Being a larger dog (70ish lbs), black in color and a senior at 9 years old are all strikes against him. He has been passed over way too many times. People don't see his calm nature, his easy walking pace, his happy go lucky attitude. And this boy does not act like he is 9, see the video!

He is a happy, confident, healthy dog and when he gets his sleepovers away from the shelter, he fits right in and is the perfect guest. Loves the car rides too.

If you're looking for an easy boy, and honestly, he probably isn't a long term commitment at his age, sad to say, but he still deserves a home to grow realllllly old in. Check him out. He's a prize!

EZZIEBELA IS READY FOR HER TURN. 💔

Ezziebela is 3 years old, 65 lbs, and has been waiting at the shelter since 9/24/25. A whole year. 😭

She arrived with another dog, Boss. Boss found an amazing family, and that family recently gave Ezziebela the most wonderful gift—a weekend away from the shelter. ❤️

And she showed everyone exactly what she’s been waiting for.

🏡 She loved being in a home.
🪟 She happily watched wildlife through the window.
🐾 She curled up comfortably in a dog bed.
❤️ She snuggled with her humans.
🍽️ She enjoyed good meals with even better company.

For one weekend, Ezziebela got to experience what it feels like to belong somewhere.

Now she’s back at the shelter, waiting for someone to choose her.

Ezziebela doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. She is a sweet girl who deserves more than kennel walls. She deserves a soft bed, peaceful mornings, a window to watch the world from, and people of her very own.

Boss got his happy ending. Please help Ezziebela find hers. 🥺❤️

Sweet Hazel💗 She’s a 55lb, 4 year old mixed breed that is sweet as pie!

🔅no behavioral issues!!!
💝house trained
🔅able to be left out alone; not destructive at all!
💝loves to be included in anything you do….walk, hike, run, boat, watch tv but she’s not a velcro dog.
🔅needs a fenced in yard as this girl LOVES to be outside! She truly thrives being able to bask in the sun & run in the grass at her leisure ☀️🌳
💝 Probably no cats as she has a strong prey drive.
🔅Smart…knows sit, paw, up, wait & pretty.
💝meet & greet required with any dog she’d be living with to ensure a successful fit.
🔅healthy, up to date on vaccines & spayed🎉
💝will jump into the tub for a bath, was a breeze getting nails drummeled, sits & looks out the back window in the car, loved seeing the vet.

I would like to introduce Chapo to the group.

Chapo came to the shelter Jan 2026 as a result of his owner being evicted and not being able to take him to their next home.
We had hoped the owner would be able to reclaim him after the winter, but sadly that didn't happen.

Chapo came in healthy and it did seem like he was loved and well taken care of. He knows quite a few commands.

In April he became available for adoption and by this time, he has spent over 6 months living in a small kennel. He became a staff and volunteer favorite at the shelter, and he finally got a sleepover away from the shelter, where it was seen that HE IS SUCH A GOOD DOG!!

🚽Chapo is potty trained.
🏠Super well mannered in a home.
🚶🏽‍♀️Walks nicely on a leash.
😴Sleeps through the night.
🚗Loves a car ride.
🍌Eats bananas. Food motivated.

Now, what might make it hard for him to get adopted is that he is said to be 9 years old. Anyone that has met him can't believe that because he has a lot pep, no known infirmities and looks great.
We consider him to be dog selective. At this stage of his life he isn't into wrestling around, he is happy just to be around people. He can walk near other dogs and ignore them. I have
walked him while multiple dogs behind invisible fences bark at him. He does nothing but sniff the grass. He ain't got no time for that.

He is a gem and he needs to not spend any more time at the shelter. 6 months already is enough.
If you are looking for an easy going, mild mannered, sweet boy, come visit him.
