Student Leadership Services

Student Leadership Services SLS is an evidence-based, validated student leadership program designed to prevent risk-taking behaviors.

With faculty support, students address health & safety needs in their school by planning and implementing peer training, activities and events. SLS is an evidence-based, nationally-validated student leadership program designed to prevent risk-taking behaviors. SLS students take action in their schools and community. Students are engaged to challenge their peers to make healthy and safe decisions.

With a support of a faculty advisor and school administration, SLS student leaders assess needs in their school and community to plan peer-led trainings, social activities and health and safety campaigns and events. Students produce measurable outcomes including increased school engagement and social competence and decreased disruptive behaviors. SLS offers Peer Resistance Skills training, Leadership Institutes, spokesperson training, and a wide variety of workshops and conferences designed to build student’s leadership capacity. Additional curricula available includes Botvin Life Skills Training©, Prime for Life©, and parent education programs. SLS is a 2016 Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services (SAMHSA) National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs and Practice's award winner.
