This morning Blanca and I attended the “College & Career Fair” at Pomona High School. Spoke to so many students and teachers regarding all of the scholarships we have available. Can’t wait for the new year to come and all of the applications to start coming in. Our Optimist Club has lots to offer students so God willing the students will take advantage of it and earn some money for college. Students can apply for multiple scholarships.

Yesterday we set up a booth at Village Academy conference center for their “College & Career Community Day” event. We had such a good time, speaking with students and their parents regarding all the scholarship opportunities the Optimist Club of Pomona has to offer. We have the Essay Contest, Oratorical Contest, My Future in Ties and Tea For the Soul.

Another topic that we were speaking to students about was our “Prom Dress 👗 Boutique” that we open every spring. Our boutique opens its doors to our students who are in need of a prom dress. (we also take dress donations after January 1)

It was a great morning, there were lots of colleges, universities, trade schools, and different military branches.

Last night our club installed our President Sonia Molina for her second term. She then installed all the officers and 3 new members. A special award went to our Treasurer Mr. Fernando Meza and his wife Mary Rose for their 10 year dedication to our club. Our Secretary M Joyce Bakersmith received an award for Distinguished dedication to our club, she is a true asset. Let’s not forget we all do this as volunteers. Every member is important and together we accomplish all of our goals.
