Last week, Lion Anne Henderson received the 2025-26 Service Center One Community Outreach Action Team (COAT) Award from the Associated Pomona Teachers. The award recognizes community members who understand and support the many activities that take place in the classrooms. The award is very well-deserved and recognizes one of the many ways Anne continues to serve, not only the Pomona Host Lions, but the entire Pomona community, especially its children.

Congratulations, Anne!

At our regular general membership meeting on Thursday, April 16, Lion Jo Fulton was presented a District 4-L4 "Spark Plug Award" by District Governor Roger Mahaffey. DG Mahaffey explained that this is a new award that recognizes Lions who may not always be visible "up front and center" at club events but are constantly present and working in the background to ensure that events are a success. Despite being a young 96 years of age, Jo makes an effort to be at as many club events and activities as she can and sets a high bar for her fellow club members, so she is a very worthy recipient of the District award. Congratulations, Jo!

At our September in-person meeting at Las Margaritas Restaurant, we were visited by two special guest presenters. Adam Lopez, an Eagle Scout candidate, recently completed the refurbishment of several Little Free Libraries that our club maintains and stocks with books. The libraries were in various states of disrepair and needed some TLC. Adam was willing to take on the task as his Eagle Scout project and did an excellent job!

Our second guest presenter was Cécile de Ford, a self-taught street photographer who has traveled the world capturing images and people. Cécile brought and displayed several examples of her work for members to view and enjoy.

At last week's general membership meeting, District 4-L4 District Governor Roger Mahaffey presented Lion Josephine "Jo" Fulton with this year's Lifetime Achievement Award. Jo (age 95) was visibly surprised and moved by the honor. Even though she voluntarily gave up her personal vehicle a few years ago, Jo can still be found volunteering for virtually all club events, courtesy of rides provided by fellow Lions. A well-deserved award for a worthy recipient. Congratulations, Jo!!
