Giving back is a big part of who we are, and it’s an honor to support the next generation—making sure they have a little extra to keep them going throughout their day.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to serve not only on emergency calls, but also in moments like these that help strengthen our community.

**FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE**
**Plainview Fire Department Highlights Importance of Vehicle Extrication Training**

**Plainview, Texas** – The Plainview Fire Department is proud to emphasize the critical importance of advanced vehicle extrication training for its firefighters and the direct impact it has on patient care and scene efficiency.

Motor vehicle collisions remain one of the most common and complex emergency responses faced by fire departments nationwide. Modern vehicles are constructed with high-strength steel, reinforced frames, advanced airbag systems, and electric components that require specialized knowledge and hands-on training to safely and effectively remove trapped patients. Without ongoing education and practical experience, these evolving vehicle designs can significantly increase rescue time and risk to both patients and responders.

Through dedicated extrication training, firefighters sharpen their skills in:

* Rapid vehicle stabilization
* Safe glass and metal removal
* Advanced hydraulic tool operations
* Airbag and electrical hazard recognition
* Coordinated patient access and removal techniques

This training directly benefits the community by reducing scene time and improving patient access. Faster access to trapped victims allows emergency medical personnel to begin life-saving interventions sooner, including airway management, hemorrhage control, spinal stabilization, and rapid transport to definitive care facilities. In trauma emergencies, minutes matter—and well-trained firefighters can make the critical difference between life and death.

Additionally, structured extrication training enhances teamwork and communication among first responders, resulting in smoother operations, improved scene safety, and better overall patient outcomes.

The Plainview Fire Department would graciously like to thank **Big E's** for generously donating two vehicles for use during a recent vehicle extrication class. These donated vehicles provided firefighters with invaluable hands-on experience using real-world scenarios that closely replicate actual emergency conditions.

Community partnerships like this strengthen public safety by ensuring firefighters are equipped with the skills and confidence necessary to serve Plainview residents at the highest level.

The Plainview Fire Department remains committed to continuous training, professional development, and delivering the highest standard of emergency response to the citizens of Plainview.
