PHCC and Plainview High School had a lot of kids compete at the West Texas '24 December Open! There were many notable results, too:

PHCC
Timothy Lassiter - tied 1st place in Reserve B
Caleb Lassiter - 1st place in Novice A
Magnus Moore - first USCF tournament, 2 wins, 2 draws, and 1 loss in Novice B

Plainview High School
Clayton Cooper - 3rd place Novice B
Jacob Mitchell - tied 1st place Reserve A
Montana Moore - tied 2nd place Open, 1st category norm (anticipated)

Montana Moore - brilliancy award for an early pawn push that led to a dominating position against his national master opponent in round 3.

Montana, Clayton, and Jacob have all participated in PHCC events, as well, including meetings and chess camps - so we like to keep an eye on them too!

Other players in attendance: Henry DeJesse, Timothy Thornhill, Sam Lassiter, and Mitchell Moore from PHCC; Emir, Phuri, and Eowyn from Plainview High School, and former PHCC player Sophia Moore from Plainview Junior High School.

Way to represent Plainview, kids, bringing home six awards!!
