Both Dr Martin Luther King Jr and Malcolm X were assassinated at 39 years old. Malcolm X + Martin Luther King were not too opposites, they were two Generals fighting on the same side, using different battlefield tactics. In later stages of their lives they both recognised the significance + importance of each others strategies + merged their philosophies! ❤️💚🖤

Maya Angelou was born on April 4, 1928, and was preparing for a birthday party when she learned of Dr. King's assassination on April 4, 1968.

For over 30 years, until Coretta Scott King's death in 2006, Angelou sent flowers to Mrs. King, turning her birthday into a day of remembrance rather than celebration.

This gesture represented a deep bond between the two women and a shared commitment to the Civil Rights Movement's legacy, despite the personal pain of the date.

Angelou eventually began celebrating her birthday again later in life, but the day remained deeply tied to the memory of Dr. King.

William Washington Browne founded the Savings Bank of the Grand Fountain United Order of True Reformers in 1888 in Richmond, Virginia, establishing the first Black-owned bank in America. The bank, legally chartered in 1888 and opened in 1889, represented a major step toward economic empowerment for Black communities following slavery. 🏦

Just how big is the universe? It takes our Sun 250 million years to orbit the Milky Way.

Ultimately, the Milky Way is about 100,000 light-years across and 1,000 light-years thick. Our solar system is located about 26,000 light-years away from the center of the galaxy.

If that's not impressive enough, our star is just 1 of the 200 billion stars in the Milky Way. As such, scientists estimate that there could be as many as 3.2 trillion planets in our galaxy.

And keep in mind, these are just the numbers for our own tiny galaxy. According to NASA, there are about 2 trillion galaxies in the observable universe.
