Volunteer Spotlight: Arthur & Tracy

This week’s volunteer spotlight goes to Arthur and Tracy! 🐾❤️

Arthur and Tracy started volunteering with Spicy Paws in the fall of 2025, and we are so grateful they chose to become part of our wildlife rehab family. They have given their time, helped care for our animals, and supported us through the busy seasons.

Volunteers like Arthur and Tracy are such an important part of what we do. Wildlife rehabilitation truly takes a village, and we are incredibly thankful to have them on our team! 🦉🦌🐿️🦆

Thank you, Arthur and Tracy, for everything you do for Spicy Paws! ❤️

I'm reaching out because I could really use your help.

Every year, I take in orphaned and injured fawns from across eastern Connecticut, and each year the need seems to grow. I'm at the point where I need more space so I can continue saying "yes" when those calls come in.

If you're able to make a donation, I'd be incredibly grateful. Every dollar goes toward expanding my fawn facilities so I can care for more fawns and give them the best chance of returning to the wild where they belong.

If donating isn't possible right now, sharing my fundraiser would mean just as much. It helps me reach people who care about Connecticut's wildlife as much as I do.

Thank you for supporting me, believing in what I do, and helping give these fawns a second chance. I truly couldn't do it without you.

Support the journey from rescue to release for injured local animals

Our first duckling release! 🦆💛

A special moment made even more meaningful by one of our amazing volunteers, Rhianna. She has dedicated so much of her time to learning, growing, and providing incredible care for the wildlife that comes through our doors.

Watching her help release one of the very ducklings she helped raise is a reminder of why volunteers are such an important part of what we do. Thank you, Rhianna, for your compassion, hard work, and dedication. We couldn’t do this without you!

Here’s to many more successful releases! 🦆🪽💚

Here are just a few of the amazing animals currently in our care! 🐿️🦆🐦🦌

Every one of these little ones has their own story, and we’re honored to give them a second chance. From around-the-clock feedings to medical care and preparing them for life back in the wild, each day is busy—but incredibly rewarding.

Thank you to everyone who supports Spicy Paws Wildlife Rehab through donations, wish list purchases, volunteering, and sharing our posts. Your kindness makes it possible for us to continue helping Connecticut’s wildlife. ❤️🦝

🌞 Extreme Heat & Wildlife 🐦🦌🐿️

With the extreme heat, our wildlife is struggling just like we are.
💧 Place a shallow dish of fresh water outside for birds and other wildlife. Add a few small rocks or sticks so insects and smaller animals can safely climb out.

🌳 If you find a healthy baby bird or fawn resting quietly in the shade, please leave it alone. Their parents are often nearby and continue caring for them, even during hot weather.

🐾 If you see wildlife that is panting heavily, unable to stand, unresponsive, or showing signs of heat stress, please contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator as soon as possible.

⚠️ Please do not give orphaned or injured wildlife food or water unless you have been instructed to do so by a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. Offering the wrong food or water can do more harm than good and may even be life-threatening.
Remember to keep pets indoors during the hottest part of the day and drive carefully—many animals are seeking shade along roadsides.

A simple bowl of clean water can make a lifesaving difference. Thank you for helping our local wildlife stay safe during this heat wave! ❤️

💙Freedom day! 💙🪽

The other day, our beautiful Blue Jays spread their wings and were released back into the wild where they belong. Watching them fly off strong and healthy is the greatest reward for all the hard work that goes into wildlife rehabilitation.
