Quiet Corner Peer Support Group The Quiet Corner Peer Support Group (QCPS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting those who serve their communities. We are here to help!

Established in December 2024 by Chief Michael Shabenas and Dr. Keven McNeill—both bringing decades of experience as first responders—QCPS was founded with a deep understanding of the unique trauma faced by individuals confronting life’s most difficult and distressing challenges. QCPS provides free professional peer support, training, and critical incident support to first responders. Members are t

rained in the Acute Stress Adaptive Protocol (ASAP), a proven method shown to reduce PTSD symptoms by up to 44%. These services are available at no cost to both active and retired first responders. Comprised of active and retired first responders, mental health professionals, military veterans, K9 therapy handlers, and chaplains, QCPS offers a comprehensive approach to alleviating stress and addressing mental health challenges faced by those on the front lines. Looking ahead, QCPS is actively working to expand its reach throughout the State of Connecticut, aiming to provide professional peer support and critical incident assistance to even more first responders in need.
